České Petrovice offers several distinct options for planning a stay: ski and snowboard lessons, cross-country skiing when snow conditions are suitable, scenic trails and an insight into the history of fortifications. Conditions vary: lesson schedules and arrangements for visits may change, while the cross-country trails depend on snow conditions.

Planning Ski Lessons and Cross-Country Skiing

At the České Petrovice sports area, SKI-BAIER runs a ski school offering ski and snowboard lessons for beginners and advanced learners. Lessons can therefore be a specific reason to travel, whether you are taking your first steps or already have experience. Check in advance whether lessons are available on your preferred date and what booking terms apply; both may change.

Cross-country skiing includes a trail several kilometres long that, when snow conditions are suitable, leads from the local ski area via Kašparova chata and back. Grooming depends on snow conditions. When snow conditions are good, the trails and routes around České Petrovice cover more than 35 km. The specific loop and the total distance offer different points of reference: the loop describes a route via Kašparova chata, while the figure of more than 35 kilometres refers to the extent of the trails and routes in the surrounding area. If cross-country skiing is a priority, consider both the type of route you want and the snow conditions.

Nature Trails and Scenic Views

The Království přírodních sil nature trail has six stops, is about 700 m long and has an elevation difference of 100 m. These figures complement one another: the approximate length conveys the scale of the route, the elevation difference describes another aspect of its profile, and the stops structure the trail. It ends at the Amálka lookout tower. From there, you can enjoy views of the Orlické Mountains and Poland. The lookout stands near the top of a ski slope on the northern slope of the 765 m-high Adam. The combination of the nature trail and viewpoint is therefore a distinct option for visitors interested in nature and views of the landscape.

Visitors can access the Zemská brána Nature Reserve primarily via a blue-marked hiking trail along the Wild Orlice; a nature trail follows the same route. If you plan to visit the reserve, you can use this marked trail as a guide and bear in mind that the nature trail also runs along it.

An Insight into the History of Fortifications

The K-S 46 “V zátiší” infantry bunker offers tours of reconstructed rooms featuring historic weapons, documents and uniforms. The bunker was built as part of the heavy fortification line on what was then the border between Czechoslovakia and Germany. A visit focuses both on the historical context of the fortification and on the objects on display. From České Petrovice, the access route first follows a paved road and then a field track. Tour arrangements and access conditions may change; check both before your visit.

Choose a Hotel to Suit Your Travel Plans

To choose a hotel in České Petrovice, first decide whether lessons, cross-country skiing, viewpoints and hiking trails, or the bunker will be the focus of your stay. If you have a fixed lesson or tour date, it is advisable to confirm the relevant arrangements in advance; good snow conditions are required for cross-country skiing to cover the stated total distance.
