Blízkov combines a specific hiking option with local history and landscape. The yellow-marked hiking trail leads from the village to Dědkovská hora, a 694-metre-high peak in the Arnolecké hory. This gives your stay a clear focus for an outing if you enjoy hiking and would also like to learn about the village’s historical connections. Several cycling routes also pass through the districts of Blízkov and Dědkov. Hiking to the peak and cycling through the districts are two different ways to plan your trip.

Hiking on Dědkovská hora

Dědkovská hora is suitable for a classic hiking trip at any time. From the peak’s unforested eastern slope, you can enjoy a view of the Meziříčská kotlina. An eight-metre-high cross dating from 1984 stands on the peak; Christian harvest pilgrimages are also held there. For an outing focused on landscape and religious tradition, the same mountain offers two specific points of interest. The peak is a named hiking destination, and the view adds a panorama of the Meziříčská kotlina to the walk.

Cycling routes through Blízkov and Dědkov

Several cycling routes pass through the districts of Blízkov and Dědkov, while the yellow hiking trail leads from Blízkov to Dědkovská hora. This distinction is useful when planning an outing: the cycling routes connect both villages, while the named peak is the destination of the hiking trail. You can plan accordingly, depending on whether you would like to cycle through both districts or head to the peak on foot.

Local history from the Middle Ages to Mirhart

Blízkov was first mentioned in writing in 1298. The village may have originated during the major medieval colonisation of the 13th century. The first written mention and the possible period of its origin are different historical indications: 1298 marks the first written record, while the colonisation points to a possible period when the village was established. The Baroque Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1762, stands in Blízkov.

The former Mirhart ski jump is also part of the village’s history. It was built in 1946–1947 as a five-storey wooden structure, 22.5 metres high. An information board behind Blízkov commemorates the former ski jump. Together, the local history spans medieval records, the Baroque chapel and former winter sports.
