Krásněves: Water, Landscape and History
Accommodation in Krásněves
If you’re looking for a hotel for a stay in Krásněves, the local features you’re interested in can be a good starting point: are you more drawn to the water and landscape, or to local history, its buildings and places of remembrance? In Krásněves, these themes are tied to specific places—from Obecník pond and the sports ground in the centre to the birthplace of poet Ladislav Dvořák.
Water and Swimming at Obecník
Obecník pond covers 1.1 hectares and also serves as a natural swimming pool. Check the local bathing conditions before swimming. To fish, you must register with the pond manager and let them know in advance that you plan to fish. The fishing rules date from 11 March 2024, so confirm current arrangements with the manager beforehand. The requirements are therefore easy to distinguish: fishing requires registration and advance notice, while swimming is subject to local bathing conditions.
Landscape and Village Centre
The area around Krásněves offers suitable conditions for active recreation in the countryside, including cycling, hiking and mushroom picking. These examples show different ways to spend time outdoors: cycling and hiking focus on movement through the landscape, while mushroom picking offers another outdoor pastime.
In the centre of Krásněves, between the municipal office and the cultural centre, there is a multi-purpose sports ground for ball games. Its location between the two buildings places it in the village centre. This puts a specifically located ball-games ground alongside outdoor activities in the surrounding landscape, each with a different spatial setting.
Literary and Architectural History
Krásněves is the birthplace of poet and prose writer Ladislav Dvořák (1920–1983). This biographical connection adds a literary dimension to the local history: it points to a specific person and their dates, while the chapels and monument tell a story of architecture and remembrance.
On the village square stands a chapel dedicated to Saint Anne, dating from 1926, and a monument to those who fell in both world wars. Another chapel in Krásněves, Jména Panny Marie, received new roof covering in 2020. The dates refer to different events: 1926 dates the Saint Anne’s Chapel, while 2020 marks a later roofing project at Jména Panny Marie.
Olšava: Bridge and Paper-Making History
The Olšava also features in the village’s history in two different contexts. After the First World War, a second covered bridge was built over the river upstream from Krásněves. It formed part of the road from the village to the sawmill and nearby houses. In 1834, Jan Rychetský and his son Václav received permission to establish a paper mill on the Olšava at the site of the later Vrbův Mill. The bridge thus represents a historic road connection between the village, the sawmill and the houses, while the permission relates to the history of a paper-making venture.
