When looking for a hotel in Meziříčko, it is helpful to start by considering which themes you want to shape your stay. At the pond dam, you will find memorial sites; the history spans several clearly distinct milestones, and two streams join below the settlement to form the Lysá. Rafting is also part of the outdoor programs at RS Meziříčko. Cultural history, waterways, and activities therefore offer different points of reference when deciding where to travel.

Memorial Sites and Historical Traces

Two different memorials stand close together at the pond dam in the village center. Beside the bridge is a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, with the year 1562 engraved on it. Near the statue stands a monument to those who fell in the First World War. It commemorates 17 soldiers in the Austrian army at the time. Their proximity brings together a statue and a war memorial; however, the inscription and the number of soldiers commemorated refer to two distinct historical contexts.

The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk is also part of the village’s history. Its foundation stone was blessed on February 5, 1994, by Prague Bishop František Lobkowicz. The year marks the blessing of the foundation stone and should be distinguished from 1562, engraved on the statue: here, the reference is to an event in the chapel’s history, while there, it is an inscription on the monument. The local bell dates from 1730 and adds another historical object to these milestones. Three distinct historical references are thus visible: the inscription on the statue, the bell, and the blessing of the foundation stone.

The development of the settlement can also be understood through two distinct historical references. Meziříčko is mentioned as a settlement as early as the 15th century. In 1785, a new part of the village called Familianti was established from the former Jesuit farmstead. The early reference concerns Meziříčko as a settlement, while the year 1785 marks the establishment of Familianti. An early mention of the settlement and a later step in the village’s development thus stand side by side.

Streams and Outdoor Activities

The landscape perspective begins with Meziříčko’s location between two streams. Below the settlement, they join to form the Lysá stream. The description therefore covers both the village’s position between the watercourses and their confluence. This is a different perspective from that of individual monuments: here, the focus is on the relationship between the streams and their continuation as the Lysá. If you want to consider the local landscape as well as cultural themes when choosing a destination, this connection between the waterways is a point of interest in its own right.

Rafting is offered as part of the outdoor programs at RS Meziříčko. From the Meziříčko – rozcestí bus stop, a walking route of about 1.5 km leads to RS. This identifies both a specific outdoor activity and the starting point of a walking connection. If rafting is one of your travel interests, you can include both in your plans: the program as an activity and the walking distance from the named stop. Before you travel, check the current bus service, trail conditions, and whether rafting is included in the current program.
