Milíčov is defined by its almost circular village layout, specific historic monuments and the landscape around the Na Oklice Nature Reserve. The settlement probably dates back to the 13th century. If you are choosing a stay based on the character of the place, these themes offer an informative starting point: they connect the village’s layout with individually protected objects and a richly described natural environment.

Village Layout and Settlement History

The almost perfectly circular shape is one of Milíčov’s distinctive features. Together with the settlement’s probable origins in the 13th century, it offers two different perspectives on time: the early history remains a well-founded supposition, while the village layout is described as a lasting feature. This makes it possible to distinguish historical development from spatial form without conflating them.

The village square is also part of the historic townscape: its ensemble of buildings is designated as being of local significance. This points to a group of structures and complements the information about individual monuments. The Milíčovská lime tree was first designated on 3 May 1984. These different points of reference—the settlement’s layout, the village square and the named lime tree—give the townscape several scales, from the course of the village to individual named features.

Stone Monuments

Protected objects include the stone Boží muka (wayside shrine) at the crossroads towards Hojkov in Milíčov. The Boží muka has been registered as a protected monument since 3 May 1958. Another protected boundary stone stands north of Milíčov beside a field track towards Jankov. These two descriptions locate the monuments in different places: one at a crossroads towards Hojkov, the other north of the village beside the field track to Jankov.

The boundary stone is also notable for its shape. Comparisons with similar examples allow it to be tentatively dated to the late Middle Ages or early modern period. It is described as a robust, rectangular stele with rounded upper corners; the front bears a raised relief of a paw cross. The date is an estimate based on comparisons with similar examples, not a more precise year. Its shape, relief and estimated date are three separate aspects that help characterize the object.

Nature Conservation and Landscape

The Na Oklice Nature Reserve is located in the Vysočina Region, in Jihlava District, within the municipality of Milíčov and the cadastral area of Milíčov u Jihlavy. Protected habitats include near-natural transition mires, montane Nardus grasslands and moist cabbage-thistle meadows. The reserve also features vegetation similar to secondary montane heath, with scattered trees and shrubs. The conservation description also covers stands that support significant plant and animal species.

A different landscape can be found at Nad Svitákem in the floodplain of the Milíčovský potok: here, a mosaic comprises preserved transition mires, moist purple moor-grass meadows or wet meadows, and montane Nardus grasslands. Significant and specially protected species are also mentioned here. The Milíčovský potok rises right in Milíčov. The comparison shows that the information about Na Oklice highlights various habitat types and woody vegetation, while the description of Nad Svitákem focuses chiefly on the floodplain mosaic.
