Nové Veselí brings together a range of travel interests: Renaissance and Baroque buildings, a cultural tradition, a signposted cycling route, nature observation and sport. When planning a stay, you can first decide whether to focus on architecture and local history or outdoor activities. The specific attractions offer different highlights—from dated architectural styles to interactive activities and opportunities for observation.

Buildings and Cultural Tradition

The Renaissance chateau features Renaissance portals and an arcade dating from 1564. A portal frames an entrance architecturally; an arcade is a series of arches. These terms describe two distinct elements of the same building and give the Renaissance connection a concrete form.

The Baroque Chapel of St. Roch dates from 1680. The single-nave Church of St. Wenceslas is a Baroque building from 1752 and was consecrated in 1757. “Single-nave” describes a church with one nave and adds another feature to the Baroque style. The year it was built and the year it was consecrated are five years apart and refer to different points in the church’s history.

A former mill in Nové Veselí has preserved sgraffito decorations on its facade. Sgraffito is a technique in which patterns are created by exposing underlying layers of plaster. The decorations are a distinctive facade detail of the former mill.

A brass band from Nové Veselí has a tradition spanning more than a hundred years. The permanent exhibition of works by Julius Pelikán is open during office hours and at any time on request. When planning your visit, you can use the office hours as a guide or visit the exhibition at any time on request.

Cycling Route and Local Themes

Since 2018, signposted cycling route No. 4369 has passed through Nové Veselí. The educational trail “To naše Nové Veselí” offers a different way to explore local themes: its ten stops cover local attractions, monuments and notable people. The two offerings therefore have different focuses—a marked cycling route and a thematically organized educational trail.

Nature Observation

The Naučná vodní stezka Nové Veselí runs along the north shore of Novoveselský rybník. Ten panels with interactive features and activities for children mark the route. At some stops, visitors can observe small invertebrates and learn about protected plant species. The educational trail thus combines activities designed for children with specific nature observation topics.

A birdwatching site is located on a peninsula in the “U kačenárny” area. It can be reached via the road to Matějov, through the biketrial area. Its location and access route are clearly described if you would like to include this nature attraction in your plans.

Sport

The sports complex at Pohanků has a squash court and a tennis court. These are two specific options if you would like to make sport a focus of your stay, distinct from the town’s cultural and nature-related attractions.
