Rapotice combines a forested upland setting with a well-preserved historic village layout and events held at different times of the year. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, you can start by choosing what brings you here: the landscape and local history, a hiking event or a festival. For practical planning, seasonal event dates and your preferred way of getting there are also relevant.

Landscape and Village Character

Rapotice lies on a hill surrounded by forests, on a plateau in gently rolling terrain. The surrounding woods are predominantly coniferous. The historic village green area has been preserved to this day. It adds a view of the original settlement layout to the landscape, while the chapel offers a tangible connection to the history of local architecture.

History in Several Stages

Rapotice became the property of the monastery in Třebíč in 1101. In the 13th century, the village belonged to the Templar monastery of Jamolice. In the second half of the 15th century, Rapotice was annexed to the town of Ivančice as part of the dowry of King George of Poděbrady’s daughter Barbora and Henry of Lipá. Later, the village was under the authority of the town of Krumlov until almost the end of the 19th century. Its historical connections thus range from monasteries to later municipal affiliations.

The Chapel of the Ascension of the Lord was built in 1857 on the site of a bell tower. It was renovated in 1995 and consecrated on 25 March that year. Its history adds a specific story of construction and consecration to the village’s older historical connections.

Hiking Events Throughout the Year

Route lengths are a key difference between the hiking events. Rápotova podkova is a traditional autumn hiking march with routes ranging from 5 to 50 kilometres; cycling routes are also offered. The routes for the festive Vánoční pochod range from 5 to 16 kilometres. This winter event includes walking off Christmas cookies together in winter weather. The stated distance range is narrower for the winter march than for the autumn event. Dates vary for both events, and the route details for Rápotova podkova may also change.

Toulky jarní přírodou offers another seasonal perspective: this popular group event opens the spring season and includes refreshments and socializing. Alongside the routes of the autumn and winter marches, it makes getting together and welcoming spring distinct parts of the year’s calendar.

Festivals and Traditional Customs

Rapotická pouť is a traditional public family event held at Sokolovna Rapotice. The programme for its 2026 edition included socializing, a dance evening and a gathering with accordion players. At Rapotické hody 2025, a procession through the village featuring traditional costumes, horses and a brass band began at 1 p.m. A dance evening featuring the Moravian Beseda, performed by people in traditional dress, followed at 8 p.m. The two programmes offer different experiences: one included several social activities, while the other featured a procession and a dance evening.

Getting There and Planning Your Hotel Stay
