Třesov: Reservoir, Boating and Local History
Accommodation in Třesov
Three distinct themes are central to planning a trip to Třesov: the Dalešice Reservoir, monuments to local history and a seasonal boat service. You can decide in advance whether you would like to include the landscape, local history or a boat trip in your stay. This decision can also help you choose the kind of stay you want when looking for a hotel in Třesov.
Landscape around the Dalešice Reservoir
The Dalešice Reservoir is up to 85 metres deep, making it the deepest reservoir in the Czech Republic. The steep slopes along the reservoir reach heights of up to 100 metres in places. These figures describe different dimensions: one refers to the water depth, the other to the height of the slopes. Together, they give an impression of a deep reservoir and rugged terrain, although they describe different features. Another scenic destination is Wilsonova skála, a partially flooded rock formation with a viewpoint. It lies 2.5 kilometres from Třesov, outside the village. This makes it easy to distinguish this nearby destination from sights within Třesov.
Chapel and historical remembrance
In the centre of the village stands the Chapel of St John of Nepomuk, dating from 1857. It is considered the village’s most important cultural and historical monument. The Statue of Freedom commemorates a different historical event: it was unveiled on 10 July 1938 to mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. The chapel and the statue point to different moments in time: the construction date of 1857 is followed by the commemorative occasion in 1938. The occasion commemorated by the statue is explicitly linked to the history of Czechoslovakia. If you would like to discover Třesov through its local history, both monuments offer concrete points of reference.
Landing stage and seasonal boat service
The Třesov landing stage is near the Stropešín Bridge, between Třesov and Stropešín. It is used especially by cyclists and hikers who want to combine a boat trip with an excursion by boat to both sides of the Dalešická Reservoir. The Horáčko’s regular boat service operates from April to October. If a boat trip is to be a fixed part of your stay, plan your travel dates around this seasonal window and check the timetable in advance. This lets you include the boat service in your plans without treating it as a year-round offering.
The Třesovská lávka
The Třesovská lávka also has a clear timeline: after a 16-year break, it returned to Třesov in 2022. The traditional 2026 event took place on the village green, drawing numerous participants and spectators to Třesov. When planning your dates, bear in mind that the event differs from the boat service: the Horáčko operates from April to October, while the date of each edition of the Třesovská lávka is what matters. If you would like to make the event the occasion for your trip, check the date before booking.
