Discover Ujčov through its nature, outdoor activities and cultural heritage. Notable highlights include the Ujčovské vodopády, west of the village, the Babylon viewpoint near Kovářová and the Svratka River in the Ujčov area. A simple walk also takes you through the village, as does the marked cycling route 4025. Buildings and memorial sites can also be found in the village’s districts and centre.

Nature among waterfalls, viewpoints and the river

The Ujčovské vodopády form a cascade system. Their two main drops have a combined height of nine metres. The Babylon viewpoint near Kovářová is 626 metres above sea level and offers views of the surrounding area. The figures describe different features: nine metres is the combined height of the main drops, while 626 metres is the elevation of the viewpoint. The cascades and their height thus offer a different kind of natural attraction from the elevated viewpoint.

In the Ujčov area, the Svratka winds through deep, wooded valleys. South of Ujčov, the protected ostrich fern grows on the riverbank. Three large-leaved lime trees stand in the village centre near the memorial to the fallen. Nature here ranges from the wooded river area to a protected plant species on the riverbank and the lime trees in the centre.

On foot and by bike

An easy, 7.6-kilometre walk from Štěpánov nad Svratkou to Nedvědice passes through Ujčov. Most of the route to the church in Nedvědice follows the red trail markers; the final section to the railway station follows the yellow markers. This makes it easy to match each marked section with its destination. Trail conditions can change; check the signs locally.

For cyclists, the marked cycling route 4025 from Polička to Nedvědice passes through Ujčov. Comparing the two options, the walk is described by its distance and easy difficulty rating, while the cycling route is identified by its number and endpoints.

Buildings and memorial sites

The Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi in Ujčov has a multi-storey rectangular tower with a curved roof, as well as a covered, functional wooden bell frame. It is probably a vernacular building on the site of an older bell tower. In 1993, the chapel was restored and consecrated by V. Cikrle, Bishop of Brno. Its probable origins and its restoration and consecration in 1993 represent different chapters in its history.

The Church of St. Wenceslas in the district of Dolní Čepí is a state-protected cultural monument. Between Horní Čepí and Dolní Čepí, a monument erected in 1975 commemorates the partisan units of the Second World War. Together, a religious building with protected status and a memorial to the partisan units represent distinct cultural points of interest.

The cider mill and Ujčovský mošt

There is a cider mill in the district of Kasany, where fruit from the neighbouring orchards is processed. Ujčovský mošt is available directly from the producer, at farmers’ markets and in selected shops; availability may vary. If you would like to include the cider in your travel plans, check availability in advance.
