Vecov offers several distinct options for a stay: two nature trails with different lengths and themes, the summit of Metodka, and historic memorial sites. For planning, information about trail length, estimated duration and trail surface is particularly helpful. It can show whether you would prefer to focus on a themed route, a shorter nature trail or an outing with scenic views. The town’s history can also be seen in several different landmarks.

Nature Trails with Different Themes

The Metodka nature trail is 3.5 km long and has 15 stations. It is suitable for hikers, cyclists and families with strollers. At the stations, visitors learn about local partisan activity during the Second World War. The route thus combines outdoor exercise with a historical theme. The 15 stations divide the trail into individual thematic stops along the route.

A yellow-marked hiking route leads from the nature trail to the summit of Metodka. The 3.5 km distance refers to the nature trail; the yellow marking leads from there to the summit. When planning your outing, you can therefore think of the themed trail and the summit destination as connected but distinct sections.

The Modráskova nature trail is located in Jimramovské Pavlovice. It is 1.5 km long and takes about an hour. Information boards cover the rare large blue butterfly, as well as the trees and birds of the region. The route follows a surfaced farm track suitable for strollers. Compared with the Metodka nature trail, it is shorter; its focus is on nature, while Metodka also covers local partisan history. When choosing between them, you can take both the length and the particular thematic focus into account.

The Summit of Metodka

The summit of Metodka is 788 metres above sea level. In good weather, you can see the Orlické Mountains, Králický Sněžník and Praděd from there. The view adds a landscape perspective to the themes of the nature trail; visibility of the three distant landmarks mentioned depends on good weather. If you include Metodka in your plans, you can distinguish between the trail stations and the summit destination, and connect the two via the yellow-marked hiking route.

Local History Between the Mill and the Memorial Stone

A memorial stone set into the masonry commemorates the murder of Václav Rychnovský in 1621 at the Rychtě in Věcov. The first documented mention of Korábský mlýn dates back to 1583. The old mill was last in operation shortly after the Second World War; today it is a farm raising horses and keeping bees. Vecov thus brings together different points in time: the memorial stone recalls a specific event and person, while the mill’s history spans from its early mention to the end of its operation as a mill.

Different planning details can help when comparing the two nature trails: you can allow about an hour for the Modráskova nature trail, while the 15 stations and connection to the summit provide a guide for Metodka. The shorter nature trail and the route with a historical theme each offer a distinct focus for your stay.
