Discover Vír: Via Ferratas, Views and Cycling Routes
Accommodation in Vír
If you choose Vír as your destination, the activities on offer may be the deciding factor: via ferratas above the Svratka River and the Vír Reservoir, cycling routes with different difficulty ratings, a viewpoint and technical attractions offer a range of options. When looking for a hotel for your trip, first consider whether climbing, cycling, views or a technical attraction should be the focus. The activities vary in character and conditions, which can help you organize your plans for your stay.
Via Ferratas and Views
The Vír via ferratas are routes secured with steel cables above the Svratka River and the Vír Reservoir. Beginners can tackle them too. Check the equipment and access requirements before you arrive. Reserved via ferrata equipment can be collected at the Krabička climbing hut on the right bank of the Svratka River. Collection requires a reservation, and service arrangements may change. Be sure to check in advance how collection is organized.
For a different perspective, visit the Klubačice rock viewpoint. A narrow viewing platform with a safety railing stands on a rock rising above the Svratka River, at a height of just under 100 m. Weather or safety restrictions may affect access; check the situation before your visit.
Trails and Cycling Routes
The Vír educational trail leads from Továrna to the dam. It also includes a detour to the Klubačice rock viewpoint. This means the trail connects two clearly named destinations, though the information provided does not indicate a walking time. You can park directly on the Továrna grounds; parking arrangements may change.
When it comes to cycling, you can choose between two distinct route profiles: the Gravel Tour Vír is an easy 34 km route on gravel roads. The Vír 8 E-Bike Route is a moderately difficult wilderness trail. The gravel route can therefore be assessed by its length and easy rating, while the trail type and moderate difficulty stand out for the e-bike route. Route conditions and ratings may change; check them before setting out.
Technology, History and Climbing Activities
The Vírský mlýnek is a water-powered mechanism with moving figures near Bystřice Creek in Vír. In 2007, the municipality of Vír commissioned a replica of the Navrátil millwork. This attraction therefore showcases both the use of water power and the history of the replica. Operating conditions may change; check before visiting to see whether the mechanism is running.
At Uhelna, you can jump from a platform installed at a height of 26 m. Booking and operating conditions may change, so check them before planning your jump. This is a different type of activity from the via ferratas or the viewpoint at Klubačice.
The Ledová stěna Vír is a man-made icefall recognized as a training area by the Czech Mountaineering Association (ČHS) and used for ice-climbing practice. Ice conditions and access may vary by season. This training facility is clearly different from the Vír via ferratas, whose routes are secured with steel cables.
