If you are looking for a hotel in Výčapy, your travel interests can help shape your plans: Hošťanka offers woodland nature, while archaeological finds and dated buildings bring local history into focus. The themes range from a nature reserve to culture and leisure in the village.

Woodland nature in Hošťanka

The Hošťanka Nature Reserve was first designated on 24 April 1996. Its forest consists of trees of different ages and is dominated by the indigenous silver fir. The term “indigenous” refers to the silver fir’s native origin. The description of the area thus brings together two specific features: different age classes in the forest and a characteristic tree species. For nature enthusiasts, this offers a factual introduction to what makes Hošťanka distinctive, without focusing on particular activities. The date of designation and the composition of the forest answer different questions: one places its protected status in time, while the other describes the forest itself.

Traces from different eras

The first written mention of Výčapy dates to 1104. Archaeological excavations in the centre uncovered pottery from the Late Hallstatt period in the 5th century BC, as well as medieval pottery from the 12th to the 15th century. Written records and archaeological finds are different kinds of historical evidence: the pottery dates reach far earlier than the first written record and also extend into the Middle Ages. If you are interested in local history, you can consider these periods as separate points of reference.

Buildings and local culture

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built in the Neo-Baroque style in 1885 and consecrated on 26 October 1890. Its construction and consecration mark two separate stages in its history. The chapel was built by master mason Ignác Suchánek and master carpenter František Trojan from Lesonice; construction costs amounted to 1,100 guilders. The combination of architectural style, year of construction, consecration date and the names of the craftsmen makes the building’s history more concrete than a single date alone.

Kaplička na Láně is considered the oldest building in Výčapy. The village also has a statue of Saint Florian dating from 1754, as well as several crosses. Another, distinct tradition concerns underground passages: some houses in Výčapy are said to have passages leading to the municipality of Šebkovice. The wording “are said to” reflects this tradition; it does not claim that there is an accessible route.

The Sokolovna is also part of the village’s history. It was formally opened on 10 September 1922, and amateur theatre performances have been held there since 1922. At the same time, the Sokolovna is used for sports and cultural activities. This makes it possible to distinguish its historical theatre tradition from its present-day function. For travellers interested in culture, the opening date and theatre performances from 1922 provide a historical reference, while the sporting and cultural uses describe the building’s current purpose.

The village’s leisure facilities also include a sports field. Together with the Sokolovna, it offers sporting and cultural themes alongside nature and architectural history, allowing you to plan your trip around your interests.
