Accommodation in Lukoveček
Lukoveček offers a range of possibilities to help you plan your trip: protected forest landscapes, geological features, local history and recurring events. You can tailor your stay to your interests—whether you’re drawn to nature, the town’s history or its seasonal events.
Nature and Landscapes Around Lukoveček
The Pod Obecním kopcem natural monument lies about 3.3 kilometres northeast of Lukoveček, at an elevation of 480 to 565 metres. The area includes species-rich beech forest communities and several forest springs; forest tufa springs are also protected there. The forest and its spring areas define a distinct natural landscape.
Other landscape features offer different points of interest: fossils have been found in the limestone known as Dubové hory. The Ondřejovsko natural monument lies within the cadastral area of Lukoveček. North of the town, a disused sandstone quarry was designated a significant landscape feature in 2004. Beech forest, fossils and the sandstone quarry each represent a different aspect of the region’s nature and geology.
Local History and Recurring Festivals
The chapel in the centre of Lukoveček was built in 1879. Nearby stands a monument to T. G. Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia. It was erected in 1932 and unveiled again in 1945. These two dates mark different stages in local history: the monument’s construction and its later re-unveiling.
Recurring events also offer different insights into local traditions. The Končinová tradition includes a carnival procession led by a shaggy bear; a double bass is also symbolically buried. A slivovitz tasting is held regularly around the turn of February to March. At the also recurring event “Dračky a mašlovačky,” visitors can try traditional crafts; participation requirements may vary.
The “Festiválek na Kopečku” is devoted to folk and country music and takes place around the turn of July to August. The slivovitz tasting and the music festival therefore take place at different times of year. If one of these festivals is a key factor in choosing your travel dates, check the specific event date before planning your trip.
Nature Trail, Cycling Route and Sports Complex
An approximately one-kilometre-long nature trail starts at the bridge at “Pod dědinů” and runs upstream along the Fryštácký potok from the town centre. Four information boards line the route. For a much longer outing, a 40-kilometre cycling route is listed, passing through Holešov, Lukoveček, Fryšták, Březová, Rusava, Lukoveček and Velká Bystřice. The different route lengths make it easier to compare options based on how long you would like your outing to be.
The multi-purpose sports complex in Lukoveček includes an artificial-turf pitch for football, nohejbal, volleyball and basketball. The complex also has a children’s play area with a rope pyramid, swings, toddler seesaws and a slide with a tower. Facilities may change, so check the latest information about the complex before visiting.
