Zádverice: Church History and Mineral Springs
Accommodation in Zádverice
Zádverice brings together several themes: the history of the Protestant church, emigration to America, mineral springs, and marked hiking and cycling routes. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay here, these interests can help you choose a destination. The historical connections are quite distinct from the springs trail and the named hiking and cycling routes.
Church, Bells and Emigration
After a fire, the Protestant church in Zádverice was rebuilt in its present form between 1860 and 1869. The rectory houses a permanent exhibition about emigration from Zádverice and the surrounding area to America in the 19th and 20th centuries. Alongside the building’s history, migration and its regional origins are therefore central historical themes.
Three bells hang in the church tower and are still in use. They are believed to be among the oldest bells in the entire Protestant church. The church’s dates and the history of the bells give a visit a different historical focus from the exhibition about emigration.
House No. 124, together with part of the farm buildings in Zádveřické paseky, is also listed as a cultural monument. This designation applies to the house and part of its associated farm buildings.
Mineral Springs Along the Educational Trail
The Chodníček za sirnými studánkami is an approximately two-kilometre educational trail that passes five mineral springs along the Horský potok. It is marked and follows a one-way route, with two stops along the way. Two starting points let you begin the route at different locations.
You can start the trail at the Zádveřice, paseky bus stop or at a car park on the road to Luhačovice. Check the conditions at the stop and car park on site; the trail’s condition and markings may also change.
Three of the five springs are covered. New wooden benches at three springs provide places to rest. The shelters and benches may need maintenance, so their condition is relevant when planning breaks.
Hiking and Cycling Routes
A marked hiking route passes through Raková on the connection from Vizovice via Slušovice to Jasenná. Its course and the places named along it distinguish it from the springs trail, whose description focuses on its length, stops, and mineral springs.
Marked regional cycling route No. 471 passes through Zádverice on the Otrokovice–Zlín–Vizovice connection. Unlike the hiking route through Raková, its route number provides an additional point of reference. Surfaces and traffic conditions may change; check conditions before your ride.
Railway and Another Sports Venue
Zádveřice station is on regional railway line No. 331 between Otrokovice, Zlín, and Vizovice. Check train services before your trip if you plan to include the station in your itinerary.
The Zádveřice pump track is located at Zádveřice 43, next to the football stadium and the new multi-purpose sports field.
