Hotels in Lithuania
Hotels in Lithuania offer holidays for every taste: from fishing hotel on the banks of the Niemen to casino hotels in Vilnius. However, the emphasis of the Lithuanian hotel industry is put on the development of health tourism. Hotels in Lithuania, offering fashionable spa facilities, are in abundance scattered across the country. The most famous Lithuanian health centers are Druskininkai, Birstonas, Neringa (Curonian Spit of Lithuania) and Palanga. Hotels in Palanga, Neringa and Druskininkai are considered to be standards of health resorts in Lithuania. At the same time both Palanga and Neringa are positioned as spa and beach resorts. At the same time Birstonas and Druskininkai remain only treatment centers. Hotels in Druskininkai and Birstonas offer a wide range of health services. These Lithuanian cities are opened and continue to be opened new sanatorium hotels.
Some hotels of the Lithuanian health resorts were inherited from the Soviet Union. However, most rooms were modernized and now offer services at high European level.
Hotels in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, as well as hotels in the second-largest city of Kaunas and Klaipeda port are mostly presented by local Lithuanian operators. But among hotels of Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda also appear hotels of large international hotel networks. Scandinavian hotels from Radisson and Scandic, hotels of such transnational networks as Ramada, Novotel and Meridien can be found today in many major Lithuanian cities.
The high season for hotels in Lithuania begin in mid-June and ends in mid-September. During this time price of hotel rooms in Lithuanian hotels is the highest and is by 15-20% higher than in the low season. In addition to the summer vacation period, prices for hotels in Lithuania are increased usually two more times during the year: Christmas holidays and Kaziukas feast in March. During other periods prices in Lithuanian hotels remain approximately at the same level, except perhaps Druskininkai, which receives many tourists all year round.
Anyway, 2011 in Lithuania is expected to be hot, at least for hotels in Vilnius. Recognized as the cultural capital of Europe 2011, Vilnius receives thousands of tourists from around the world.
