Information about routes, swimming spots, and a place to get coffee can help you plan your stay around your interests.
Views and trails by the water
At the Oleannas utsikt viewpoint, there are information boards and parking spaces. A viewing panel shows what can be seen on the other side of the Oslofjord. The viewpoint therefore offers visual orientation and information about the view across the fjord. Signage and parking arrangements may change; check the conditions before you drive there.
The Kyststien runs along the shore past Fjellstrand Brygge and continues through the built-up area of Fjellstrand. Two route descriptions give you a concrete idea of distances for planning a hike: the hike from Fagerstrand to Alværn passes through Fjellstrand, is 15.1 kilometers long, and is listed as taking five hours to walk. The Aker Brygge–Fjellstrand–Fagerstrand coastal trail on the west side of Nesodden is about 10 kilometers long. Different starting and ending points help you choose a route to suit your plans for the day. Check current trail conditions before setting out on a longer hike.
Route options and parking
The Lysløype Fjellstrand has a surface of colored wood chips and splits into route options toward Fjell or Granerud. Parking is available at the Grendehuset in Fjellstrand, as well as at a small additional parking area at Fjellkrysset. If you plan to use this trail, you can factor in the direction toward Fjell or Granerud when choosing your route; check local parking conditions before you arrive.
Swimming spots and refreshments
The swimming area in Fjellstrand has a sandy beach and grassy areas, as well as a bathing platform, a diving tower, and a pier. The local residents’ association operates the facility. Parking nearby is difficult. As facilities and local responsibilities may change, check current conditions before your visit.
The nearby Ommen recreation area is north of Fjellstrand. It covers 50 dekar and has a 400-meter-long sandy beach, masonry benches, and a grill. A 150-meter-long, steep path leads there from the Sofienlund car park; from the “Ommen” bus stop in Fjellstrand, it takes about ten minutes to walk to the area. The two access routes differ mainly in their terrain and walking time. Check the route and public transport connections in advance.
