For a stay in Nesoddtangen, arriving by boat and the coast are two practical points of reference. The coastal path towards Hellviktangen begins at the pier; in the area, you can also visit Skoklefall Church, the Nesodden Kayak Club and events at the jazz festival. Other cultural and nature destinations are in the wider destination of Nesodden.

Ferry Access and Coastal Path

The boat trip from Aker Brygge to Nesoddtangen takes approximately 25 minutes. The Ruter ferry connects with buses that take travellers further around the peninsula. Travel times and timetables may change, so check the connection for your travel date.

The coastal path begins at the Nesoddtangen pier and leads to Hellviktangen. It is suitable for hiking, running, birdwatching and swimming. The same route therefore offers a range of activities: walking, observing wildlife along the path and taking a swim.

Church, Kayaking and Festival in Nesoddtangen

Skoklefall Church is a wooden long church completed in 1936. It is a notable architectural landmark for anyone interested in local history as well as the coast.

The Nesodden Jazz Festival takes place over the Whitsun weekend and includes events at Nesoddtangen gård. The Nesodden Kayak Club has its main base there and is also active in Oksval and at the Fagerstrand pier. The proximity of these two named locations in Nesoddtangen brings the cultural programme and the club’s base together in travel planning, although they do not offer the same thing.

More Cultural and Leisure Destinations on Nesodden

In the wider destination of Nesodden, Nesodden Church is used for concerts, including the Kantorissimo concert series. Programme details may change. The public park around the art centre includes paths, a sculpture park and a play area for children.

Kyststien and Nature on Nesodden

Kyststien runs from Blylaget brygge northwards along the Bunnefjorden coast to the main terminal at Nesoddtangen, then southwards along the Oslofjord to Fagerstrand. The eastern section is marked with blue hiking markers and leads to Tangen brygge, where you can catch a boat to Oslo.

The old feldspar mines at Spro are suitable for an excursion where visitors can explore the mine tunnels and combine their visit with a swim. In summer, the downhill offering at the Brattbakken ski slope includes varied trails for beginners and experienced riders; a lift serves the area. Eikeskogen near Røer is considered the world’s northernmost continuous oak forest, covers around 300 dekar and offers nature experiences all year round.

These options differ considerably in when they are available: the festival takes place over the Whitsun weekend, the downhill offering is seasonal, and Eikeskogen offers nature experiences year-round. For your travel year, check the specific festival dates and programme, as well as the operating dates for the summer offering.
