Fevik: Coast, Beaches and Hiking Trails

Fevik invites you to explore its coastline, trails and viewpoints: some places are known for their beaches and swimming spots, while others offer hikes through fields and woodland or close to the sea. If you are considering Fevik as a destination for a hotel stay, it helps to match the activities you want to enjoy with a suitable route. The trails vary in length, terrain and suitability for bikes or strollers; one section also has an explicit restriction.

Views, beaches and rural trails

At 105 metres, Tysåsen is Fevik’s highest point and offers views across the sea and inland. This hiking destination is rewarding year-round; the routes vary in length and difficulty. You can therefore plan your hike based on the distance and challenge you want, as not all trails require the same level of effort.

At Storesand, white, fine-grained sand and smooth, polished rocks define the beach. The Grefstad circular trail offers a different landscape, taking you through a rural area of fields, farmland and scattered buildings. The coastal recreation area of Haugenes has trails and woodland.

Hiking trails by length and terrain

The main Storesand hiking trail is about 3.2 kilometres long; shorter and longer variations are also available. The Grefstad circular trail is about 3.5 kilometres long and suitable for strollers, bicycles and wheelchairs. The Fevik Lysløype–Temse circular trail is also a clearly identified option, at about four kilometres, and is suitable for bicycles and strollers.

The terrain matters on the Storesand hiking trail: the first section, from Storesand to Breiviga, is not suitable for bicycles, strollers or wheelchairs. The other paved and gravel paths in the area are suitable for them. If you are planning to bring bikes or strollers, make sure to check which section you choose.

A separate option is the Fevik circular hike, which follows trails, gravel and asphalt close to the sea. The different distances and trail surfaces give you useful points of comparison: you can consider the length, landscape and stated suitability together, rather than choosing based on a hike’s name alone.

Beaches and activities by the water

Moviga is a public bathing beach along the Storesand hiking trail. In summer, Tjenna offers good swimming opportunities and a lively bathing pier. The Kvennebekken recreation area also has a seasonal focus: in summer, it is suitable for crab fishing. If you are planning to visit outside the season for these activities, take the time of year into account.

Hauslandsanden is a shallow public beach that is easy to reach from Riksvei 420 and is close to a bus stop. If you plan to travel by bus, check the current timetable in advance. At Iversdabbe, a marked hiking trail leads from the seaward side of the cabin out to the coastal rocks. The options by the water therefore vary, from a public bathing beach and summer swimming and crab-fishing spots to trails along the coast.

Archaeological traces and boatbuilding history

En Fjæresoknings grav, a cist grave dating from the Migration Period, lies along the Fevik Lysløype–Temse circular trail. The route thus combines a hike with an archaeological trace from that era. Fevikkilen also had a long boatbuilding tradition: sailing ships were built from 1810 to 1890, followed by iron ships from 1890 to 1924. The dates and types of ships mark two successive periods in local history.
