Railway station history and Munch connections
Løten station dates from 1862. After the new station was completed, the center developed around it. The station building at Stasjonsvegen 16 is protected for preservation.
The design of the town center draws on Munch’s color palette. The municipality funded the project to bring more life to the center for visitors and residents. Seven buildings have already been painted in Munch colors, and more are planned. The Alma Mater statue, inspired by Edvard Munch’s childhood nanny, stands in the Munch playground. The center is also home to a Munch-inspired graffiti work by street artist Martin Whatson, featuring an empty gold frame.
Events and regional products
The summer program “Sommer i sentrum” features activities and entertainment for the whole family on four Saturdays during the summer in the center of Løten. The first Saturday includes, among other things, a plant market hosted by Løten hagelag, a parade by Løten turn and a concert at Godshuset.
