Jordet: Cultural History, Cross-Country Skiing and Disc Golf
Accommodation in Jordet
Jordet in Trysil offers two distinct starting points for planning a trip: architectural history and outdoor activities. Villa Wessel and Nordre Trysil Church represent different chapters in the area's history, while cross-country skiing, skiing with very young children and disc golf offer an active focus. If you're looking for a hotel, these themes can help you shape your travel plans around what you'd like to do in the area.
Cultural History and Architecture
The main building of Villa Wessel was built in 1898 with Swiss-style details. It served as a general store with a post office and telephone exchange, as well as the merchant's private residence. Villa Wessel is a cultural heritage site worthy of preservation, with a long history and authentic condition, in the village of Jordet in Trysil. Its architectural details and former use make the main building a tangible point of interest for travelers interested in architecture and local history.
Nordre Trysil Church was built in 2000 and designed by Anders Gunnestad. It stands on a hill south of the village of Jordet and is visible from the RV25 and FV215. The Pilgrim's Path passes directly by the church. Together with Villa Wessel's main building, it offers a chronological contrast: the villa dates from 1898, while the church was built in 2000. This gives you the chance to explore two distinct periods of construction.
Cross-Country Skiing, Skiing and Disc Golf
Jordet has a floodlit cross-country ski trail about 2.5 kilometers long, with shorter loops also available. On a trip, you can choose between the full stated distance and shorter loops. Check the current trail conditions and lighting schedule before setting out, as both can change.
From the parking lot at Jordet skistadion, you can ski south with very young children. This lets you decide in advance whether a trail with a choice of loop lengths or skiing south with very young children should be the focus of your winter plans.
Norda Mør's Disc Golf Course is a woodland course on the floodlit trail at Jordet skistadion. The course opened in 2024 with nine holes and was later expanded to 18 holes, along with an additional 5-hole children's course. As the layout may change, check the current setup before your visit. If you don't have your own discs, you can rent them; check availability in advance. The trail in Jordet also serves as a starting point for longer hikes on Nordre Trysil's trail network.
Jordet in the Trysil Destination
The scale of the winter sports offering is much greater across the wider Trysil destination: Trysil has four interconnected ski areas; SkiStar Trysil has 71 groomed runs and 41 modern lifts. A total of 500 kilometers of cross-country ski trails are groomed across the destination, many of them also suitable for skating. Lift operations and trail grooming are seasonal. These figures apply to the wider Trysil destination, not Jordet itself.
