Meråker can be explored with different travel interests in mind: the open-air museum of cultural history in Pulden, the town’s main church and several opportunities for exercise each offer their own focus. In addition to places in town, there are also sports facilities in the municipality; these offer further, clearly distinct options for planning your trip.

Culture and local history

Bygdemuseet i Pulden is an open-air museum of cultural history in Meråker. It comprises the original smallholding at Pulden, with a dwelling house, barn and storehouse. These three types of building illustrate the farm as an agricultural ensemble: the dwelling house, barn and storehouse represent living, animal husbandry and the storage of provisions. Meråker-Musea offers a guided historical tour at Bygdemuseum Pulden, among traditional buildings from an 18th- and 19th-century farm.

Tours are offered only from April to November and must always be booked and confirmed in advance. If the tour is part of your stay, plan it within this period, book in advance and wait for confirmation. Check the current booking details before making specific plans.

Meråker kirke is the town’s main church. The largest cemetery in the local community lies next to it. It is located along the road used to approach Meråker town centre. The church building and cemetery therefore offer a different focus from the farm buildings in Pulden.

Visiting and rail travel

Pulden Bygdemuseum is in Midtbygda, a ten-minute walk from Meråker railway station. Meråker stasjon is in the municipality of Meråker and is a stop on the Meråker Line. From there, train services run towards Trondheim, Storlien and Östersund in Sweden. For your train journey, check the timetable for your planned travel date.

Exercise opportunities in Meråker

The disc golf course is also located at Meråker videregående skole. It is easily accessible to students and visitors. The school therefore offers two clearly distinct exercise options: the staircase and disc golf.
