Kolvereid: Market, Museum and Trails
Accommodation in Kolvereid
During a stay in Kolvereid, you can plan your visit around an annual event or focus on culture, trails and sports facilities. Kolvereiddagene takes place every year in calendar week 32. The Prestegårdsmuseum, hiking trails and activity park offer different options for planning your stay. If you’re looking for a hotel in Kolvereid, first consider whether you’ll be visiting for a set event date or would prefer to plan your days more flexibly around your interests.
Getting there by car
You can reach Kolvereid by car via Gartland, following signs to Rørvik. Alternatively, you can take a detour along the Kystriksveien (FV17). Check the current signs and road conditions before you travel, as both can change.
Kolvereiddagene: market and entertainment
Kolvereiddagene is an annual market event held from Thursday to Saturday in calendar week 32 in the centre of Kolvereid. At that time, Sentrumsgaten fills with stalls and exhibitors, and entertainment takes place at Kolvereid Torg. Its recurring schedule makes it easy to plan your trip around the event. The program changes from year to year, so check the details for the relevant year if particular events are important to your plans.
The rectory and art at PrestegĂĄrdsmuseum
Kolvereid Prestegårdsmuseum opened in summer 2022 and is housed in a venerable rectory more than 100 years old. The building houses parts of Magne Olav Aarsand Brevik’s art collection. The museum’s collection includes several original works by Munch. The site thus brings together a historic building and a specific connection to art. If you’re planning to visit the museum, check visiting options in advance.
Hiking trails with different profiles
The Skihytta Kolvereid hike is an easy, year-round one-way route measuring 1.1 kilometres, with a total elevation gain of 67 metres. It starts on Kolvereid’s illuminated trail. Check the trail conditions before setting out. Another route, Kolvereid sentrum–Vattin–Trollborga, starts on the illuminated trail and climbs steadily up to Vattin. This distinguishes the short Skihytta route, described by its distance and elevation gain, from a route whose defining feature is its steady ascent.
The Lysløype is also relevant when considering the available options: the municipal trail description from 2015 identifies it as a developed, illuminated trail that is also used for hiking and skiing. The trails therefore differ in their described routes and uses. Since trail conditions can change, check them separately before planning a hike.
Activity park and swimming pool
At Kolvereid aktivitetspark, universally designed paths and open spaces connect the different areas; the park is a place for activities and socialising for people of all ages. The outdoor grounds of Kolvereid skole in the park include a BMX track and a skate ramp. The park also has an athletics facility with a running track, throwing sector and long-jump pit. It is set up for use by Kolvereid skole and the wider population of Nærøysund during school hours and in their free time. If you’re planning a visit, check current access options in advance.
There is a swimming pool in Nærøysund Arena in Kolvereid. If you’re planning to visit, check the current opening hours and visitor information. This will help you distinguish between hiking trails, sports facilities and the swimming pool when planning your day, rather than treating the different options as the same type of activity.
