Namsos in the regional context

In the broader Namsos destination, the Namsen River flows into the fjord. Kunstmuseet NordTrĂžndelag is located in the Kulturhuset in Namsos and presents Norwegian contemporary art in a varied exhibition programme. The museum also offers an open workshop with activities for adults and children. The exhibition and workshop programme may change. During the summer season, the free Stolpejakten also takes place in Namsos from 1 June; it is an accessible way to combine navigation and exercise.

The Klompen Pavilion offers a viewpoint overlooking the city of Namsos. Bjþrmunslumpen, usually called Klompen, is Namsos’s town mountain. Several paths lead from the centre to the summit; the walk usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. Another activity listed is the 26 km Namsos–Namsos cycling loop via Vemundvik.

A fast boat operating year-round connects Namsos, Rþrvik and Gutvik. Bicycles are carried, but cars are not. Check the latest departures before travelling. This helps distinguish Namdalseid’s local natural features and mountain destinations from the separate cultural, leisure and transport offerings in Namsos.
