Skivika: Hiking Trails and Viewpoints
Accommodation in Skivika
Skivika is used as a starting point for trips into Bodømarka. The Skivika and Løpsmarka area is about 4 km north of central Bodø by bicycle and faces northwest toward Landegodefjord.
Location on the Edge of Bodømarka
To the south and east, the Skivika and Løpsmarka area borders Bodømarka. Bodømarka has forest tracks and marked hiking trails; half of this larger area is forested. It therefore provides the scenic setting for trips from Skivika into Bodømarka.
Hiking Trails and Routes
Natural paths, as well as gravel walking and hiking trails, connect the Skivika and Løpsmarka area with Bodømarka. Gravel hiking trails run above Løpsmarka and between the residential areas of Løpsmarka and Skivika. The trails continue north toward Ausvika and Geitvågen.
A hiking trail leads downhill from Linken to Skivika and then continues along the boat harbor toward Bratten. The routes therefore differ in direction: some run between the residential areas and Bodømarka, while the trail from Linken descends to Skivika and then follows the harbor.
Viewpoints and Planning
There are 17 registered viewpoints in the Skivika and Løpsmarka area; ten of them are connected to hiking trails. These ten points offer a practical guide if you would like to combine a hike with a view.
As of September 2023, the hiking maps “Løpsmarka,” “Prix–Bremnes,” and “Bremnes–Ausvika” were available for the area. Check whether the maps are currently available before your trip. The climate in the Skivika and Løpsmarka area is not suitable for ski trails. In the 2023–2030 planning period, a gravel trail connection of about 0.6 km was still missing between Gravsanden near Løp and Ausvika; check current trail conditions before your trip.
Nearby Destinations
Geitvågen is an easily accessible local recreation area nearby and has a long tradition as a swimming spot. Ausvika is also in the area: the beach faces south and lies in the small cove of Storausa on Landegodefjord. There are benches, tables, and seating; the shallow water is child-friendly.
Bremneset offers a short circular walk nearby. Check the current trail conditions on site. Another circular walking route follows a bridle path along Lifoten from Løp to Ausvika. It runs through the lowland north of the district and connects to the coastal path; here too, it is advisable to check the current trail conditions before your trip.
