Beitostølen combines outdoor activities with cultural experiences. The range includes the summer park and mountain biking trails, as well as cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and events at the ski stadium. To plan your trip, start by considering the season and the activities you want to shape your stay around. Check opening hours, programs and seasonal offerings in advance.

Summer Activities and Events

Beitostølen Summer Park is centrally located in the heart of the village. A family-oriented activity park, it offers fun and fast-paced activities for all ages throughout the summer and into the fall. Seasonal opening hours and the choice of activities may change. If you plan to visit the park, check the latest information first.

Beitostølen Ski Stadium is also open in the summer and fall, provided no private event is taking place. It also hosts annual events such as the Beitosprinten. Since dates and programs may change, it is worth checking the event schedule: this can help you combine your visit with an event or account for a possible closure.

Culture and Local History

The summer weekend program at Liastølen has been running since 2002. Talks and lectures cover topics including traditional mountain-farm life, folk costume traditions and birdlife. There are also demonstrations of traditional crafts, along with concerts featuring singing and folk music. The topics bring together interests in nature and culture; as the schedule may vary from season to season, check the specific dates before your visit.

The old Liasælet in the center of Beitostølen offers a distinct glimpse into history. The building was constructed in the 18th century from pine felled in Beitostølen. The village therefore offers two different cultural points of interest: a historic building and a summer program of talks, crafts and music.

Cross-Country Skiing and Ski Resorts

Starting from Beitostølen, a cross-country ski trail network extends for more than 300 kilometers, with groomed trails at various levels of difficulty. Grooming varies by season and conditions, so check the latest trail status before setting out. Thanks to a snow storage project, Beitostølen Ski Stadium is often among the first facilities to have groomed ski trails.

The ski area in Beitostølen is centrally located, just a few minutes’ walk from restaurants, a ski rental shop and other facilities. Raudalen is the village’s other ski center and offers more challenging skiing. The options described there include popular off-piste runs when the powder-snow alert is issued. This gives you a choice between the trail network, the central ski area and the more challenging options in Raudalen.
