Accommodation in Lalm
Millstone history in Lalm
Kvennberget, also known as Tolstadkvennberget, is located in Lalm and is one of Norway’s oldest areas for millstone production. Written sources indicate that millstones were already being made there in the 15th century. Millstones were exported from Kvennberget both within Norway and abroad. In 1987, Kvennberget was protected as a cultural heritage site.
The Lalm community centre has an exhibition about the history of millstone production. Kvennberget is signposted from the Rv 15 near the Lalm community centre. Check visiting arrangements before planning a visit to the exhibition.
