Florø combines culture, exercise and experiences by the sea. If you’re looking for a hotel for a stay in Florø, the different highlights can shape how you explore the destination: a self-guided walking tour, a hike, a brewery visit or time by the water. The following places and activities show the many ways to enjoy a stay.

Culture and local history

Florø kyrkje is a wooden long church dating from 1882. It was built to plans by architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan and seats 500 people. The Kystmuseet is also within easy reach of Florø: it is about two kilometres from the centre. The walk through residential areas and beautiful natural surroundings takes approximately 30 minutes.

For a route that brings art and views of the town together, the cultural walk is a self-guided circular route through Florø. Along the way, you’ll encounter artworks, old boats, buildings and nature. Allow about two hours for the circuit. This makes it easy to plan the walk without joining a guided group.

Hiking and views

Litleåsen offers a different kind of route: a good but steep path leads to an old water tank that has been converted into a concert venue and viewpoint. If you’re weighing up different ideas for walks and hikes, the focus here is on the climb and the destination at the old water tank; the cultural walk, by contrast, is a circular route that takes about two hours.

Nearby, Brandsøyåsen reaches 293 metres. A hiking trail leads to it from almost the centre of Florø. These routes therefore offer different highlights: a self-guided walk around Florø and a hike up nearby Brandsøyåsen.

Experiences by the water

The Havhesten swimming centre is by the sea, a ten-minute walk from the centre of Florø, and offers views of fjords and mountains. Its facilities include a swimming pool, a fitness room and a spinning room. The heated swimming pool is 28°C and the therapy pool is 33.5°C. Facilities may change after renovations or expansions, so check what is currently available before your visit.

Havstua Sauna is located on the seafront in Florø and combines sea views with saltwater bathing tubs. From there, you can easily access refreshing sea swims. Check the booking and safety conditions before your visit. Klatreparken, which opened in 2016, is described as a free activity for everyone; check local conditions before visiting.

A brewery visit on Strandgata

Vesle Kinn is Kinn Bryggeri’s café and pilot brewery in the heart of Strandgata in Florø. The small brewery experiments with new ingredients and recipes; beer is also aged in French oak barrels. This gives the venue a distinctive connection to the art of brewing, which you can explore through tours and tastings.

On tours and tastings, you can see the brewery premises and equipment and learn more about the brewing process and the history of Kinn Bryggeri. Tours and tastings can be booked year-round for groups. Confirm availability before travelling.

Arriving by plane or boat

Florø Airport is close to the town centre. It takes about five minutes to reach by car and approximately 30 minutes on foot. Widerøe and DAT operate several flights a day from there to Bergen and Oslo. Flight routes and frequencies vary over time; check them before booking.

You can also arrive and depart by boat: local scheduled boats depart from Fugleskjærskaia several times a day. Check the current timetable before travelling. This means you can choose between flight connections and scheduled boat services when planning your journey.
