Accommodation in Bátorová
For a trip to Bátorová, cultural history and connections to nature and leisure can be considered through specific themes. Two churches represent different building histories, and the bell tower is the oldest structure in the village. The folklore group Agačinka adds another perspective, with a history dating back to 1973. The Nenince water reservoir and Karikáš pheasantry offer distinct features: the reservoir is of interest to anglers from the surrounding area, while the pheasantry is associated with opportunities for recreation and tourism. This allows you to choose the focus of your trip.
Churches and bell tower: different building phases
The Evangelical church in Bátorová was created by converting a chapel built in 1903. The Roman Catholic church, by contrast, was created in 1966–1967 by converting the chapel and family crypt of the Blaškovičovci, dating from 1870. For a chronological comparison, it is important to note that 1903 is the date of the predecessor Evangelical chapel, while 1870 is the date of the chapel and family crypt whose conversion in 1966–1967 resulted in the Roman Catholic church. The years therefore mark different stages, rather than simply the construction dates of the present-day churches.
The bell tower is the oldest structure in Bátorová. Its Baroque bell dates from 1740. Alongside the churches’ building histories, it provides another historical point of reference: a separate structure with a dated bell.
Agačinka: folklore spanning several decades
The folklore group Agačinka was formed in late November 1973 in connection with the local organization of the Slovak Women’s Union. In 2023, the group released its first CD, titled “Bátorovská agačinka zelená sa”. On 17 August 2024, Agačinka performed the program “šúpanie kukurice” at the Hontianska paráda folklore festival in Hrušov. The group’s founding, CD and performance mark different milestones: its origins, a recording and a specific stage program. For those interested, this makes it possible to trace the group’s development from its beginnings in 1973 to a dated festival performance.
Nature and leisure around Bátorová
A considerable part of the Nenince water reservoir lies within the cadastral area of Bátorová. The reservoir is well stocked with freshwater fish and is used by anglers from across the surrounding area. The focus of this connection to nature and leisure is therefore the fish stock and its use by anglers.
Karikáš pheasantry is located in Bátorová and is associated with opportunities for recreation and tourism. Together with the reservoir, it offers a different focus from churches and folklore: here, the emphasis is on connections to nature and leisure, each with its own character. The oldest oak in the municipality is also part of these themes. A walk to the oak took place on 1 May 2024; this municipal event combines a specific connection to nature with a dated outing.
You can use these themes to choose what interests you, distinguishing between different building histories, folklore with a documented timeline, and varied connections to nature and leisure.
