With nearly 120 hectares of water, the Slnečné jazerá are a distinctive part of Senec. The lakes have grassy areas for sunbathing, with gently sloping access to the water. Swimming, water sports, boating and fishing are among the possible activities; pedal boats and paddleboards can be hired. Rentals may be available seasonally, and water conditions and operating rules may vary by season. So if you are planning your day around a particular activity, it is worth checking the current information.

Water activities and seasonal planning

Aquapark Senec also offers various areas: the Play Pool, Bubble Pool, Swimming Pool, Sunshine Pool and Relax Pool are open year-round. Operating schedules may change; check them before your visit. The covered Hrošík-Paula play area is also open year-round. Alongside activities at the lakes, the aquapark therefore offers options whose opening status may be relevant to planning at different times of year.

Getting around between the lakes and the city centre

In summer, the Senec Express tourist train connects the Slnečné jazerá with the city centre. Its 7.3-kilometre route runs around the lakes; it starts and ends at Senec’s main square. As seasonal operating details may change, check the current timetable before your journey. The nearest stop for the aquapark is on Štefánikova Street. From there, it is about a five-minute walk.

For information about excursions and events, the Senec Tourist Information Centre recommends sights in the surrounding area and provides information about activities and events. These visitor services may change. The centre’s information offers another starting point if you would like to include excursions or events in your plans alongside the lakes.

Architectural history in the cityscape

The synagogue is a distinctive building in the city centre. Its current form dates to a renovation in 1904 and is characterised by Art Nouveau with Oriental elements. Turecký dom represents a different historical architectural style: this Renaissance manor house was built in the mid-16th century. In front of Esterházy Castle, the Marian, or plague, column commemorates the victims of a plague epidemic; it was erected in 1747.

There are also historic landmarks along the main road from the centre to the lakes: the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, built in the Neoclassical style in 1860, stands there. The grounds of the Church of St Nicholas include Stations of the Cross, a Calvary group dating from 1934, and a Lourdes grotto. Together, these buildings reveal different facets of Senec’s history and design—from the Renaissance manor house to the synagogue and religious monuments.

Nature as another highlight

If you would like to include a natural area alongside water and architectural heritage, Martinský les is home to oak woodlands that survive in only a few places in Europe. The forest is part of the Natura 2000 network. Check local access conditions before planning a visit. This makes the forest a distinct highlight alongside activities at the lakes and the city’s buildings.

Plan your stay around your interests

When looking for a hotel in Senec, you can start by deciding what you want your stay to focus on: time at the lakes, the aquapark, architectural history in the city centre, or a visit to Martinský les. Then choose a specific location based on the places you actually want to visit. If your plans include both the lakes and the city centre, the seasonal Senec Express is one option to consider; check the current timetable. The right combination for you depends on which of these different highlights you want to prioritise.
