Waibstadt offers a variety of options for a stay: trails with interactive stations, nature views and sights in the town and the district of Daisbach. When comparing hiking trails, both the route length and the individual character of each trail are important.

Forest trails and nature

The forest nature trail in MĂĽhlbergwald is around 2.5 kilometres long and features more than 20 interactive stations. The tree telephone and forest xylophone are two examples. The circular trail starts at Dr.-Weil-Weg, continues past the orchid meadow to the insect hotel and finally reaches the observation tower. This identifies both the starting point and several stations along the trail.

The 2-kilometre Comfort Hiking Trail 6, “Murmelbahnweg,” combines nature experiences with playful stations. It is particularly suitable for families with children, older people and people with mobility impairments. One section runs along the edge of the forest and offers a view of the Schwarzbach floodplains. At 2 kilometres, the Murmelbahnweg is listed as shorter than the forest nature trail, which is around 2.5 kilometres long. The features described also differ: the Murmelbahnweg focuses on nature and play stations, while the forest nature trail has more than 20 interactive stations.

Five hiking car parks in Waibstadt provide starting points for several varied circular walks: “Am Weißen Stein,” “Weierwiesen,” “Waßenbuckel,” “Daisbach” and “Stadtmitte.” Along the forest nature trail, the orchid meadow lies on the northern edge of Mühlberg, in the direction of Neckarbischofsheim. Five species of this rare flowering plant grow there; the number of species may change over time.

Sights in Waibstadt and Daisbach

The Catholic parish church “Unsere Liebe Frau” is visible from far away and is one of Waibstadt’s sights. In Daisbach, a district of the town of Waibstadt, the castle ruins restored by a citizens’ initiative are worth seeing. The church and the ruins offer contrasting highlights: a prominent building in Waibstadt and a restored historic structure in the district.

In Ladenburg’s historic town centre, large parts of the townscape still reflect the Middle Ages and, in some places, Roman times. The annual “Ab in den Wald” programme also offers free guided forest walks and excursions throughout the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis.
