Rednitzhembach: river, art and local history
Rednitzhembach combines seasonal boat trips on the Rednitz with leisure activities and local history. The town offers several options to shape your stay: time by the water, mini golf, art and industrial history. Each offers a different focus; the art trail is a circular route, while the mill, church and cinema museum showcase different aspects of local history.
Leisure by the river and along the art trail
From Hembach Harbour, the fleet of boats sets off on the Rednitz from Easter onwards. Trips are seasonal; check before your visit whether services are running on your chosen date. FUNTASYGOLF is located on Walpersdorfer Straße in Rednitzhembach. The mini golf course, which opened in 2018, has 18 holes. This gives you a choice between a river activity and a clearly defined mini golf offering.
The Rednitzhembach Art Trail is a popular day-trip destination and follows a circular route. You can start at various points and return to your chosen starting point. For route planning, this means you are not limited to a single starting point, and the circuit ends where you began.
Water, local history and culture
The Kuhr Mill tells part of the town’s history: its transformation from a mill into a small hydroelectric power station. An interactive mill wheel has also been installed near the Mainbach weir. Both highlight different aspects of milling technology: the development from mill to small power station, and an interactive installation. A landscaped visitor area at Walpersdorfer Weiher offers another distinct connection to the water.
The Evangelical St. Antonius/St. Laurentius Church in the old town of Rednitzhembach contains well-preserved wall frescoes. The municipal cinema museum offers a different cultural focus: it has historic film projectors and cinema seats with a long history. Local themes thus range from church murals to historic cinema technology and the history of cinema seating.
As part of the “Experience Nature and History in Rednitzhembach” project, a Kneipp facility and a sand playground with water and mud play equipment and a slide were installed. Conditions at these facilities may vary; check their status before your visit.
In the wider Roth destination
The wider Roth destination offers other distinct attractions. In Kammerstein, the KammerSTEINPILZ trail is four kilometres long; along the route there are ten mushroom-themed stations with quiz questions, as well as a playground. The “RH hoch 2” circular cycling route covers a different scale: it follows the district boundaries, circles the entire district of Roth and is more than 200 kilometres long. Rothsee also provides a regional point of reference: the 210-hectare lake lies between Roth, Hilpoltstein and Allersberg. These examples place the local focus in a broader context and differ both in subject and in scale.
