Chambave brings together a wine-growing landscape, historic buildings and two walking routes with different destinations. Vineyards surround the populated centre; the historic centre, the parish church of San Lorenzo and the Museo parrocchiale are cultural landmarks. Also on offer are the Féta di Resén, held every year on the last weekend of September, and the “Pont-Saint-Martin – Aosta” bus route. If you are looking for a hotel in Chambave, you can plan your stay around wine growing, culture, walks or an event date.

Wine growing in the landscape and its produce

A low-rainfall microclimate has favoured wine growing since ancient times; it is considered one of the area’s greatest resources. From the surrounding slopes, vineyards encircle Chambave’s populated centre, bringing the landscape and its long wine-growing tradition together. La Crotta di Vegneron produces Chambave Muscat, a DOC white wine. The local importance of wine growing thus goes hand in hand with a specific product bearing its own DOC designation.

Building history and collection

The historic centre is home to several buildings dating from the 16th century. The parish church of San Lorenzo stands on Romanesque remains. To understand the distinction, note that the 16th century refers to buildings in the historic centre, while the remains beneath San Lorenzo are Romanesque. The Museo parrocchiale di Chambave holds 25 objects, including twelve statues, five pieces of goldsmithery and three paintings. The figure 25 refers to the total collection; the other numbers refer to individual object groups. Building history and the museum collection thus stand as two distinct cultural themes.

Walking routes with different destinations

The Chambave health trail connects the hamlet of Epiney with the place called Tsan Fromenté and is just under 2 km long. The walking route to Castello di Cly begins in the Borgo di Chambave and ends at Castello di Cly in Saint-Denis. The routes differ in their orientation: the health trail focuses on the connection between two places and its approximate length, while Castello di Cly is the destination of the other route. You can choose based on whether you prefer a route described by its length or by a specific destination.

Plan your visit and journey

The Féta di Resén takes place every year on the last weekend of September. If you would like to combine your trip with the festival, check the specific event dates before planning. Chambave can be reached by the “Pont-Saint-Martin – Aosta” bus route; if travelling by bus, it is worth checking the timetable for your travel date. The event date can help you choose when to travel, while the bus route may be relevant to your journey.
