Andrano offers two distinct perspectives for planning your trip: the historic center and the coast of Marina di Andrano. At the heart of the town is Castello Spinola-Caracciolo, a fortified baronial palace. Along the coast, a three-kilometer stretch alternates between cliffs and small, easily accessible spots by the sea. This lets you decide whether local history, coastal scenery or bathing areas should be the focus of your stay.

Historic Center and Cultural Sites

Castello Spinola-Caracciolo is in the center of Andrano. The medieval historic center, enclosed within the walls, is crossed by Via di Mezzo, where the 16th-century Chiesa dei Domenicani stands. Religious cultural sites include the Cripta della Madonna dell'Attarico, an ancient Basilian laura in Serra del Mito near Andrano. Inside the Cripta, you can see two wall altars with remnants of frescoes. One depiction shows the Madonna nursing a child among angels. The Cripta is accessed via two stairways and a cross-shaped opening.

Coast and Grottos

Marina di Andrano has a three-kilometer stretch of coast. Cliffs alternate with small, easily accessible spots by the sea. At Marina della Torre lies the Grotta Verde, a bathing spot in a sea grotto where sunlight creates emerald-green reflections. The Grotta della Botte in Marina di Andrano is characterized by a freshwater spring. It is fed by a small underground stream that flows into the sea there. The two named grottos thus offer different coastal features: the Grotta Verde is known for the light in the sea grotto, while the Grotta della Botte features spring water and its underground stream.

Routes Between Bathing Areas and the Countryside

The Lungomare delle Agavi, designed entirely for pedestrians, connects the two main bathing areas, Botte and Grotta Verde. The hiking trail Tratturo Via Vecchia Mare offers a different point of reference: it runs southeast of Andrano and connects the municipality’s countryside with the coast. The routes therefore differ in their destinations: the Lungomare connects bathing areas, while the Tratturo links the municipality’s countryside with the coast. When planning your trip, you can choose between a route along the coast and a hiking trail that takes in the countryside.

Festivals and Local Cuisine

The Festa Patronale of the Madonna SS. delle Grazie was introduced in the first half of the 19th century. Its feast days are August 4, 5 and 6. The celebration includes the Sagra della “Puccia cu le vulie.” The festival thus combines a religious tradition with a local culinary event. If you would like to plan your trip around the Festa, check the dates for your travel year.

The Landing Place in Marina di Andrano

The landing place in Marina di Andrano consists of a slipway and two quays, each 45 meters long. The facility can accommodate up to 50 small fishing and recreational boats.
