Casalabate is a tourist-oriented coastal town on the Adriatic Sea. The coast shapes the visitor experience, but the town’s themes also include architectural history, the history of bathing, and nature and cultural events. Depending on your interests, you can explore the coastal landscape on foot, learn about local architecture, or focus on nature and cultural activities.

Coastal walks

Beaches, cliffs, and the seafront promenade offer suitable landscapes for walks. This gives you several coastal settings to choose from when planning: you can decide whether you prefer a walk on the beach, among the cliffs, or along the promenade. All three share the Adriatic coast as their setting, but each landscape gives a walk a different character.

Coastal architecture and the history of bathing

Torre Specchiolla is a notable example of coastal architecture. The tower stands in Casalabate, a few metres from the sea, and is classified as a typical coastal tower of the Regno. Its square footprint measures about eleven metres on each side; the tower has twelve machicolations in total, three on each side. For travellers interested in coastal architecture, Torre Specchiolla combines a clearly defined architectural form with a seaside location.

The history of bathing also has a specific point of reference: Valentino Isceri built the first bathing establishment near Casa dell’Abate in 1936. While Torre Specchiolla represents classified coastal architecture, the bathing establishment points to the local history of bathing. Together, these two themes offer different insights into Casalabate’s relationship with the coast.

Nature and cultural events

EducAmare offers another way to experience nature. In 2025, the excursion took participants through the dune park and Mediterranean maquis. A biologist accompanied them as an expert guide; that year, EducAmare held its eighth edition. Unlike walks through coastal landscapes, this was a guided activity focused on a specific nature theme. The 2025 edition illustrates the difference between a coastal walk and a nature excursion led by an expert.

Cultural events also have different focuses. The band festival “Bande a Sud – Suoni tra i due mari” took place from 9 to 16 August 2026 in Trepuzzi and in the Marina of Casalabate, and reached its 14th edition. It is therefore a recurring festival. The Casalabate Food Village took place on 18, 19, and 20 August 2026 in the southern part of the market area of the Marina of Trepuzzi, combining music, gastronomy, and local tradition. Unlike the band festival, which was dedicated to music, the Food Village explicitly combined music with gastronomy and local tradition. The two events in August 2026 therefore differ chiefly in their cultural focus.
