In Trepuzzi, historic buildings tell the story of different periods in the town’s history; the festival calendar also includes an annual celebration in honour of the patron saint of travellers. The municipality includes Casalabate, a tourist-oriented marina on the Adriatic Sea. When looking for a hotel, it may be helpful to first decide whether you would like to focus your stay primarily on Trepuzzi’s historic buildings and festivals or on the coastal town of Casalabate.

Historic Buildings in Trepuzzi

Palazzo Barrile-Spinelli, commonly known as “Castello Nuovo”, is a fortified residence commissioned by the Condò, Trepuzzi’s feudal lords, at the beginning of the 17th century. The palazzo has a trapezoidal floor plan, is arranged around a quadrangular courtyard and comprises two levels.

The palazzo includes a chapel dedicated to Saints James and Philip the Apostles. Gian Domenico Condò of Lecce had it built out of devotion before 1640.

The Chiesa di Maria Santissima Assunta in Cielo is Trepuzzi’s mother church. It was built in 1603 on the site of a smaller existing structure.

Festivals and Dated Events

The Festa di San Raffaele Arcangelo is held every year on the fourth Sunday in October. Civil and religious celebrations honour Saint Raphael the Archangel, the patron saint of travellers. The celebration includes a procession through the streets of Trepuzzi, accompanied by a brass band. The festival tradition also includes an animal and livestock fair with stalls offering local products to sample. If you would like to plan your trip around this date, check the programme for the relevant year in advance: the celebration takes place annually, but individual programme details may vary.

The 2026 Carnevale Trepuzzino programme included several scheduled events on Sunday, 22 February. The masked groups were due to assemble at 2:30 p.m. in the market area on Via Gramsci. The parade was due to start at 3:00 p.m. and end around 4:30 p.m. with performances in Largo Margherita. These details refer to the 2026 programme; check dates and arrangements again for future editions.

Bande a Sud Kids also catered to children in 2026. The project was scheduled to include workshops and events on 29 July and from 11 to 13 August, intended to promote the passing on of tradition to younger generations.

Casalabate and the Adriatic Coast

Casalabate is the marina of the municipality of Trepuzzi and a tourist-oriented coastal town on the Adriatic Sea. It is divided between two municipalities: the southern part falls under the municipality of Trepuzzi, and the northern part under the municipality of Squinzano. So if you are using a specific location as a reference, also check which municipal section is named.

For the 2026 season, AbilBeach was scheduled to operate in Casalabate from 10 July to 30 August as a free, accessible beach service. It was located near “Bar del Sole” beach on Via San Giuseppe. The service included an accessible transparent canoe for inclusive experiences on the open sea. If you are planning for a later season, check the dates and availability again.

If you choose Casalabate, distinguishing between its southern and northern municipal sections will help you interpret location details more accurately.
