Baia Domizia: Sandy Coast, Pine Forest and Paths
Accommodation in Baia Domizia
Baia Domizia combines around nine kilometres of sandy coastline with pine forest and Mediterranean maquis. The seaside resort lies between Naples and Rome; there are also vineyards in the surrounding area. For planning your trip, the coastal landscape and paths take centre stage, complemented by green spaces and a few event venues. When looking for a hotel, you can first consider whether you want to focus on the beach and coastal area, or also on cycling, nature and culture.
Sandy Coast and Landscape
The sandy coastline is about nine kilometres long and is sheltered by a lush pine forest. The forest was planted by people at the beginning of the 20th century. The history of the land also shapes the coast today: before it was drained, the coastal belt was swampy. Mediterranean maquis includes the vegetation typical of this area. The landscape thus brings together a man-made pine forest, former wetlands and Mediterranean vegetation. Vineyards are also part of the surrounding landscape.
Shallow seabeds and Mediterranean maquis characterise the shared coastal area of Baia Domizia, Baia Felice and Levagnole. The Litorale Domitio associated with Baia Domizia is also connected to important historical and tourist centres in the region, including Pompeii. Baia Felice is both the destination of the wooden walkway and part of the coastal area described as a whole. The name therefore refers to both a specific route and a broader landscape.
Waterfront Paths and Green Spaces
A two-kilometre wooden waterfront promenade walkway connects Baia Domizia with Baia Felice; there are rest areas and benches along the walkway. In July 2026, a fire damaged part of the panoramic waterfront promenade walkway. In July 2026, it was reported that the damaged section was to be secured and then restored. Check its current condition before your visit. Another route is the seven-kilometre cycle path from the centre of Cellole to Località Baia Domizia. The route to Baia Felice and the cycle path from Cellole differ in their starting and ending points as well as their length: two versus seven kilometres. Check the condition of the cycle path locally.
Parco dell'Amore is a green park with a picnic area, an inclusive fitness area and an inclusive playground. There is also a nature trail in Baia Domizia’s nature area. The park offers picnicking, fitness and play as different activities within the same green space; the nature trail adds a nature-focused activity to what the area has to offer.
