Beach and Coast

Spiaggia di Marina di Casalvelino stretches for several kilometers. It offers fine, light-colored sand and both equipped beach areas and free areas. This gives you a choice of different stretches of beach when planning your visit. Nature along the Alento

The area of the Alento River designated as an SIC also extends across Casal Velino. Its habitats include Mediterranean maquis, mixed woodland of sun-loving broadleaf trees, and riparian woodland along the riverbanks. There are also grassland or steppe areas, wetlands covered with reeds, and cultivated land with grapevines, olive trees, and other fruit trees.

Trails between the sea and the hills

The Sentiero Blu connects the sea and the hills along the southern slopes of Monte Stella. The trail can begin in Casal Velino or Acciaroli and be walked in either direction; via Celso, it leads to Casal Velino. Check trail conditions and connections before setting out.

Chapels and regional tradition

In Marina di Casal Velino, the Cappella San Matteo once housed the apostle’s remains. Today, the chapel is part of a tourist route tracing the stages of the saint’s journey. This historical and religious connection complements the area’s nature and coastal themes.

Another stop is the small chapel dedicated to San Giovanni, between Casal Velino and Celso. A simple route there begins in the main town, passes through the lanes of the historic center, and then follows Via Fornaci. Check trail conditions and access before setting out.

Cacioricotta del Cilento also offers a regional connection: this traditional cheese from the Parco del Cilento e Vallo di Diano is made from June to August. It is made using a blend of goat’s and sheep’s milk or goat’s milk alone. The two possible types of milk and the clearly defined production season offer a concrete insight into the product.
