Cavezzo brings together historic landmarks, markets, cultural offerings and festival traditions. If you are looking for a hotel in Cavezzo, these different highlights can guide your travel planning: you may be especially interested in local history, want to plan your visit around a market day, or be looking for events and cycling routes in the surrounding area.

Churches, History and Cultural Offerings

The Chiesa parrocchiale di S. Egidio Abate dates back to an old oratory from the late 12th century on the Isola di Sant’Egidio. This island corresponds approximately to what is now the centre of Cavezzo. The reconstructed church was inaugurated on 2 June 2019. Its history thus brings together a medieval origin and a much later reconstruction.

In Disvetro, the bell tower of the Chiesa parrocchiale di S. Giovanni Battista was largely rebuilt in 1923 by architect Giacomo Masi. The Biblioteca „La Biblio“ offers book loans and use, loans of audiovisual materials, Nati per Leggere programmes, and cultural activities. The cultural topics on offer thus combine architectural history with library services.

Markets and Recurring Events

The weekly market takes place on Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the town centre, except on public holidays. On the third Sunday of each month, an arts and crafts market is held in Piazza Fratelli Cervi. The events differ both in frequency—weekly or monthly—and in the nature of the market. As market dates can change, it is advisable to check the calendar before your visit.

Carnival Sundays also feature in the event calendar: allegorical floats and masked participants parade through the centre of Cavezzo. The dates vary from year to year. If you would like to plan your stay around an event, be sure to check its specific dates separately.

Festivals with a Culinary and Social Focus

The Festa della Tagliatella scheduled for 2025 centred on tagliatelle, traditional dishes and vegetarian specialities. The 21st edition was planned for Villa Giardino in Cavezzo. Each evening was also to feature concerts, performances and activities for the whole family. These details give an idea of the culinary and cultural elements announced for that edition.

The Sagra di San Giovanni was announced for 19 to 24 June 2026 in Disvetro, Via di Mezzo 2. Four evenings of music, food and socialising for residents and visitors of all ages were planned. The announced food offering included traditional Emilian dishes, pasta dishes, grilled food, side dishes and typical desserts.

The traditional Sagra di Motta in the hamlet of Motta combines food and social events with religious celebrations, including the Rosary and Eucharistic adoration. A Mass and a procession accompanied by a band were announced for Wednesday, 5 August 2026. The programmes and dates described relate to specific editions; the dates of each event are important when planning future visits.

Historical and Geographical Connections

The oldest significant settlement in the Cavezzo area was Casare. It was under the authority of the Abbey of Nonantola and stood where the hamlet of Motta is today. The culinary context also points to a wider geographical connection: Cavezzo lies within the exclusive production and packaging area for Salame di San Felice in the province of Modena.

For cyclists, EuroVelo 7 is another nearby point of interest. It runs along the embankment of the Secchia River near Cavezzo. Those interested in astronomy and technology can also find detailed information about the main telescope at the Osservatorio Astronomico „Geminiano Montanari“: it is dedicated to public observations and is a 400 mm Newton-Cassegrain reflector with a focal length of 2210 mm. The dome is 4.5 m in diameter.
