Maranello: Ferrari, Culture and Architecture
Accommodation in Maranello
Maranello lies south of Modena, between the plain and the first hills leading to the Apennines. The town brings together Ferrari-related attractions, architecture, venues and green spaces; in the Maranello area, vinegar cellars offer a further perspective on the production of typical regional products. This gives you different priorities to consider when planning your trip: are you mainly interested in vehicles, architecture and cultural uses, or also in green spaces and local produce?
Ferrari and vehicles
The Ferrari factory, also known as the “Citadel,” is where Ferrari vehicles are made; it is located within the Ferrari complex in Maranello. The Museo Ferrari di Maranello showcases famous and successful Formula 1 cars, models from the sports prototype and Gran Turismo categories, as well as important road cars. Visitors can also use driving simulators there. These are two distinct ways of engaging with Ferrari: the factory is where vehicles are produced, while the museum displays various vehicle groups and allows visitors to use driving simulators. If Ferrari is your main interest, you can use this distinction to plan your visit: vehicle production and the museum collection are two separate topics in Maranello.
Architecture, venues and history
The town’s architecture can also be explored in different places. MABIC was designed by the architecture firm Arata Isozaki and Andrea Maffei. Its basement contains a large hall for conferences, events and initiatives. The Enzo Ferrari Auditorium is a versatile venue for theatre, film and music performances, conferences, events and major functions. In the view of the Soprintendenza Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the provinces of Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia and Ferrara, it is one of Maranello’s most architecturally significant buildings. At MABIC, architecture is combined with a hall for a range of uses; the auditorium stands out for its types of events and architectural significance.
The Spazio Culturale Madonna del Corso is housed in a former Franciscan hospice and monastery. The municipality converted the building into a cultural space in autumn 2005. Its former function and later municipal conversion represent two distinct periods in its history. If you choose cultural venues not only for their events but also for the history of their buildings, this combination offers a distinctive perspective.
Green spaces and regional products
Parco Ferrari offers a different focus. This green space has walking paths, outdoor play equipment and an events area. This mix sets it apart from indoor cultural and exhibition venues and adds a focus on green spaces to your trip planning.
Vinegar cellars offer insights into the production of typical regional products. They broaden the range of topics to include local production, providing a different focus from vehicle exhibitions, architecture and green spaces.
