Polcenigo combines a historic village setting with spring landscapes, wetlands and walking and cycling routes. Its sites and routes offer concrete points of interest.

Palazzi, Museum and Traditions

Palazzo Scolari-Salice has an Italian garden with paths and hedges. Its design also includes rare, centuries-old trees. Another architectural highlight is Palazzo Fullini-Zaia in Piazza Plebiscito. This imposing building is distinguished by rusticated arches, trifora windows and original mascarons—details that pair well with a stroll through the historic village.

The Museo dell’Arte Cucinaria explores another aspect of the area’s history: it commemorates generations of chefs who emigrated all over the world. The Church of the Santissima Trinità stands a few metres from a spring. It was rebuilt and extended in the 16th century.

Crafts and customs also feature in the cultural calendar. The annual Sagra dei sést takes place on the first Sunday in September. The festival celebrates baskets and, more generally, the craft of working with willow rods, rushes and bast. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the dates for that year’s event in advance.

Springs, Gardens and Wetlands

At the Gorgazzo Spring, an underwater cave takes centre stage: the Gorgazzo stream rises from it. The spring is also known by the dialect name “el buso”. The spring pools of Fontaniva offer a different landscape, with expanses of water and small ponds scattered among the vegetation. Together, a spring with an underwater cave and a landscape dotted with ponds offer contrasting natural highlights.

Parco Rurale San Floriano covers 65 hectares. Its landscapes include permanent meadows, woodland, a traditional garden and a synergistic garden, orchards and a medicinal plant garden. Activities include guided visits to the beehives and honey tastings; in autumn and winter, visitors can also make a beeswax candle. Other activities include walks through the orchards, fruit picking and jam making. Check the current booking arrangements in advance.

At the PalĂą di Livenza pile-dwelling site, cultural history and nature come together. The area provides a habitat for various species of marsh birds and hygrophilous plants. Alongside the pile-dwelling heritage, visitors will find a landscape shaped by its wetland character, its plants and its birdlife.

Exploring on Foot and by Bike

The “10 Mila Passi di Salute FVG – Polcenigo” circular walking route follows the River Livenza and passes beside the Palù di Livenza UNESCO pile-dwelling site. A footpath also leads to the Gorgazzo Spring, before continuing into Polcenigo’s historic centre. A nature-focused variant crosses the Rui de Brosa and follows the left bank of the Gorgazzo along a pedestrian bridge beneath dense tree cover. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

For access to the pile-dwelling site, the route description starts in Polcenigo’s built-up centre and follows Via Roma, past the Church of San Rocco and along Via Livenza to a car park with information boards. Check the route before your visit. As another point of reference, Polcenigo lies near the Cammino di San Cristoforo; the route and local access may change.

The 28.3-kilometre “Anello di Sacile e del Gorgazzo” circular cycling route passes the La Santissima spring on its way to Polcenigo. The walking route and the cycling loop therefore offer different ways to plan your trip: one focuses on stretches of river, the spring and paths through the village centre, while the other is a designated cycling loop with its own distance. Check current route conditions here, too.
