Porto Sant'Elpidio: Sea, Cycling Path and Culture
Accommodation in Porto Sant'Elpidio
Porto Sant'Elpidio is a coastal destination with a cycling path, watersports and named cultural venues. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, you can plan around what interests you most: time by the sea, cycling or history and events. These different themes offer concrete points of reference when choosing your destination.
Coastal scenery and watersports
The coastline of Porto Sant'Elpidio is about seven kilometres long, and the beach is stony or pebbly. The landscape also includes a pine forest overlooking the sea. This means you can experience two distinct coastal features: a stony beach and a forest with views of the sea. If coastal scenery is a priority when planning your trip, these are two specific features of the town to consider.
A cycling path runs along the seafront promenade. The Ciclovia Adriatica Sud runs from Porto Sant'Elpidio to Torre di Palme. While one cycling path follows the promenade, the Ciclovia describes a route between two places. For guests weighing up cycling and watersports, there is another distinction: the coastal waters are suitable for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The cycling path and the Ciclovia therefore sit alongside two specifically named watersports as different options to consider when planning your trip.
Historical and religious sites
Villa Baruchello, also known as Villa Fonteserpe, was built in the second half of the 18th century. The historical dates associated with the Santuario Santa Maria della Corva are different: the original building dates from 1548, and on 21 June 1958 the Santuario was declared a Marian shrine. This clearly distinguishes the construction dates of the two sites from the later religious recognition of the Santuario. It is also a pilgrimage destination for people from the surrounding towns and remains a religious point of reference to this day.
Theatre and cultural programme
Teatro delle Api is a municipal theatre that hosts concerts, performances, conferences, meetings and discussion events. The “Tutti a Teatro” series included performances for children and young people in the 2025/26 theatre season. The International Children’s Theatre Festival takes place at Teatro delle Api in July.
Villa Baruchello is also associated with music events: five evenings of live music were planned there for 2026, spanning jazz, opera and symphonic music.
Markets and time-limited offers
The Mercato di Campagna Amica di Porto Sant’Elpidio is located in Piazza Wojtyla, in the square opposite the Chiesa di San Pio X. Its location gives you a specific landmark for your visit; arrangements on site may change, so it is worth checking the latest information.
The weekly open-air shoe market Il Salotto della Calzatura was scheduled to take place in the town centre on Thursday evenings from 25 June to 3 September 2026. The plan was for manufacturers to sell shoes directly. The free summer shuttle was also available for a limited period: from 25 June to 6 September 2026, Thursday to Sunday, from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am. For trips in future summers, please check the event dates and shuttle times then in effect.
