Discover Cingoli: Views, Heritage and Nature Trails
Accommodation in Cingoli
When looking for hotels in Cingoli, you can start by choosing the themes you want your stay to focus on: views, nature trails or cultural history. The town offers a range of ways to explore these interests, from the Balcone delle Marche viewpoint to trails through woodland and maquis, as well as churches, museums and an almost completely preserved city wall. This lets you plan your trip around specific interests without limiting your stay to just one theme.
Views and trails
The Balcone delle Marche viewpoint is considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Cingoli. If you want to make views the focus when choosing a destination, this is a clearly identified place to enjoy them. The landscape views are also a highlight of a moderately challenging circular route: it leads via Pantanaccio to the scenic Cima delle Piane, at an altitude of 780 m. From there, you can enjoy an impressive view of Cingoli, Monte Conero and the Adriatic coast.
Another trail crosses the hills of the Dorsale di Cingoli, a small mountain range above the town, passing through woodland and dense maquis. The trails offer different experiences: the route to Cima delle Piane is defined by its moderate difficulty and designated viewpoint, while the Dorsale trail focuses on woodland and maquis. Check trail conditions and signage locally before planning your hike.
Churches, museums and local history
The Chiesa di Sant’Esuperanzio combines Romanesque-Gothic architecture with a precisely dated portal history: Master Giacomo created the portal, which was completed in 1295. The relics of Saint Esuperanzio are kept in the crypt; they were discovered on 24 January 1495. The two dates refer to different aspects of the church: 1295 marks the completion of the portal, while 1495 marks the discovery of the relics. The building’s history and religious tradition therefore sit side by side, without confusing the dates of the two events.
The Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Cingoli is located in the Palazzo Comunale. Palazzo Castiglioni offers a different cultural focus: the house museum displays furnishings and personal belongings of Francesco Saverio Castiglioni. Together, the archaeological collection, church and house museum provide different ways to explore the town’s history.
The Pinacoteca comunale di Cingoli reopened with a newly arranged presentation of its collections in 2024, after closing because of building damage caused by the 2016 earthquake. The almost completely preserved city wall encloses Cingoli’s large historic centre and numerous architectural monuments. The historic centre itself, as well as individual museums and churches, is part of the destination’s historic character. Visiting arrangements for the Pinacoteca and Palazzo Castiglioni may change, so check ahead if you plan to visit.
