Pintura lies at an altitude of about 1,331 metres, near a beech forest and tall woodlands. The village combines this mountain scenery with skiing and cycling activities, and is a good starting point for excursions into the Sibillini Mountains. The offerings have different focuses, from the ski resort and cycling opportunities to nature and cultural sites.

Panoramic Views and Local History at the Madonnina

The Madonnina offers a 360-degree view of the peaks of Parco dei Monti Sibillini, the village of Bolognola, and the Bolognolaski ski slopes. Mountain scenery, the settlement, and the winter sports area can all be seen together. The votive chapel of the Madonnina stands at an altitude of 1,480 metres and overlooks the Pintura district of Bolognola. The Barberini family rebuilt the Madonnina in 1983; it is considered a symbol of the district. The viewpoint thus combines expansive views with a distinctive cultural connection to local history.

Skiing and Cross-Country Skiing

The Bolognolaski ski resort is located in Pintura. Its facilities start at an altitude of 1,280 metres and extend to below the summit of Monte Castelmanardo at 1,680 metres; the elevation difference is 400 metres. These figures indicate the ski resort's elevation range without placing its upper end at the summit itself. There is also a cross-country skiing school in the village of Pian di Sopra. Pintura's winter sports offerings therefore include both the ski resort and a place for cross-country skiing. As the ski facilities operate seasonally, it is best to check conditions for your travel dates in advance.

Cycling with Different Focuses

Cycling excursions are available on routes of varying lengths and difficulty levels. If you would like to use an e-bike, Bolognola-Ski's rental service is located right by Pintura's main car park. Models with front suspension and full-suspension models are available. These two types provide a practical point of comparison when choosing a bike; equipment and opening hours may change. Therefore, check the current rental conditions in advance.

The Bike Circus offers a different experience: its course features jumps, ramps, and a BIG AIR BAG. In a controlled environment, you can practise tricks and acrobatics there. The cycling options therefore differ in character: alongside route-based excursions, there is e-bike rental and a course for jumps and acrobatics. Which option suits your trip depends on how you would like to spend your time on a bike.

Forests and Trails in the Mountain Landscape

Macchia Tonda is an almost circular beech forest. The Percorso Natura offers another way to combine forests and views: it passes through centuries-old beech forests, offers panoramic views, and includes an equipped trail for physical well-being. One section of the trail is La Madonnina. So, alongside the winter sports and cycling activities, there are also specific nature and trail experiences to consider when planning your trip.

The Grande Anello dei Sibillini leads from the square in Pintura di Bolognola downhill along an unpaved road to Rifugio Casale di Vallecaprina. The starting point, surface, and direction give a clear indication of this section of the trail. Local conditions may affect access; check them before setting out. For seasonal activities, take the current conditions for your travel dates into account.
