Discover Dermulo
Accommodation in Dermulo
Dermulo offers several different starting points for planning a trip: a fresco fragment in a church, a tree-lined meadow, trails through the Forra di Santa Giustina and activities at Lago di Santa Giustina. Travel by train and bus can also be factored into your plans. The route information ranges from a walk of about ten minutes to a 15.5-kilometre circular route—two different scales for a stay.
Church and park in Dermulo
A fresco fragment attributed to the Bohemian painter Maestro Venceslao is located on the counterfacade of the Church of Saints Philip and James in Dermulo. For travellers interested in painting and church art, it is a specific point of cultural and historical interest in the village.
Parco Le Plaze in Dermulo includes a tree-lined meadow with footpaths and an asphalt road. The combination of meadow and paths gives you a clear picture of this green space. The park is a landmark in its own right, while the paths to the Eremo di Santa Giustina and the lakeside area reveal other aspects of the surroundings.
Trails to the Eremo and through the gorge
The Eremo di Santa Giustina trail passes through the Forra di Santa Giustina, which is recognised as a Site of Community Importance (SCI). From the church in Dermulo, trail 529 leads through the forest to the Eremo in about ten minutes. This approximate time helps you plan the walk; local trail conditions may vary.
The Eremo di Santa Giustina circular route is 15.5 kilometres long in total and runs between Taio and Dermulo. When planning, it is helpful to distinguish between the two figures: the approximately ten minutes refers to trail 529 from the church to the Eremo, while 15.5 kilometres is the total length of the circular route. This puts an approximate walking time and a route length side by side as different planning measures.
Another connection is the approximately two-kilometre cycle and footpath between Taio and Dermulo, which runs between the parish churches of the two hamlets. It differs from the Eremo circular route in both its stated length and its route type. When planning, bear in mind that trail and surface conditions may change.
Lakeside area and activities
Le Plaze di Dermulo is an equipped lakeside area on Lago di Santa Giustina for recreation and sports. Visitors can rent kayaks there or join a guided excursion to the Novella Gorge. The two options differ in format: one involves renting a kayak, while the other involves joining a guided excursion. As seasonal opening and reservations may vary, check what is currently available if you plan to take part in either activity.
From Dermulo, the signposted road to the lake branches off to the left in the direction of Sanzeno. As road signs may change, follow the current directions when driving. You can plan lakeside activities and trails separately according to your travel interests.
Getting there by train and bus
Dermulo can be reached from Trento by the Trento–Malè railway line. In addition, Trentino Trasporti bus route 627 Cles–Sfruz connects Dermulo with Coredo. You can factor these connections into your travel plans. As timetables may change, check the times for your travel date.
If you are looking for hotels for a stay in Dermulo, the village’s different highlights may help shape your decision: church art, trails and lakeside activities offer various starting points for planning your trip.
