Folgaria offers several distinct points of interest for planning a trip: the Biotopo di Echen on the plateau, hiking routes with named starting points and destinations, and winter sports. Historic buildings and Cimbrian traditions round out the picture.

Nature and Hiking Routes

The Biotopo di Echen is a rare peat bog in a karst area on the Folgaria plateau, at an altitude of around 1,260 metres. It is home to wetland plants, reptiles and amphibians. The combination of bog and karst is a defining feature for nature lovers, while the plants and animals add to the appeal of this wetland.

The SAT E451 hiking trail starts in the centre of Folgaria and reaches the southeastern ridge of Cornetto di Folgarìa. This gives you a clear starting point in the town centre and a named destination to use when planning your route. The Forra del Lupo is a themed trail in Folgaria: the 4.6-kilometre route follows a frontline trench and leads from Serrada to Dosso delle Somme. It runs between high rock walls on the upper slope above the Terragnolo Valley. The routes offer different starting points for planning: a start in the town centre or a trail with a specified length and described route.

Plan Your Winter Sports

The Folgaria-Lavarone ski area covers 104 kilometres, spread across 66 ski runs. The Alpe Cimbra ski area offers alpine skiing, ski touring, snowboarding, freeriding, cross-country skiing and fat biking. There are several winter sports to choose from, while the distance and number of runs describe the scale of the Folgaria-Lavarone ski area. For planning, these are two separate questions: how extensive a ski area are you looking for, and which winter sport would you like to try?

Architectural History and Cultural Memory

Forte Sommo Alto was built on the hill of the same name, at an altitude of 1,613 metres, between 1911 and 1914. Forte Cherle was built between 1910 and 1913 on the hill of the same name, at an altitude of 1,445 metres. The construction periods overlap; the elevations differ by 168 metres. An important historical distinction applies to Forte Cherle: it was heavily bombarded but was not subjected to direct attacks.

The Cimbrian place name “Tåntz” means “dance” and preserves the memory of rituals and dances of the mountain people of earlier times. Alongside the history of the forts, this tradition offers a different way to explore the past: it connects a place name with the customs of the people who once lived in the mountains.

Golf and Landscape

The Folgaria Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course. It covers 5,472 square metres of lawn, surrounded by meadows and forests. The number of holes and par provide specific details, while the landscape defines the course. If golf is of interest to you, you can include these details in your trip planning alongside hiking and winter sports.
