Isera brings together river scenery, Roman heritage and wine traditions. The town lies on the right bank of the Adige in a hilly landscape overlooking Rovereto. Marzemino is also part of this area's character: the sunny exposure and shelter from the wind favour its cultivation.

Landscape and Roman heritage

Castel Corno is in the hamlet of Lenzima, within Isera, at an elevation of about 850 metres. From there, panoramic views stretch from the course of the Adige to the peaks of the Piccole Dolomiti. For your plans, it is important to note the current access arrangements: Castel Corno is temporarily closed to the public. Check before visiting to see whether it is still closed.

The Roman Villa of Isera is an urban-rural villa near the Via Claudia Augusta route. The Villa Romana di Isera is currently closed for restoration work. If you would like to include it in your travel plans, check before your trip to see whether it has reopened.

The “Salvatore Nuvoli” Postcard Museum houses 35,000 postcards from Trentino-Alto Adige. The collection covers different periods and subjects, including the First World War, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, political satire, Renaissance events and the Tyrolean Rebellion. It also features the best-known tourist destinations in Trentino-Alto Adige. The museum therefore offers a perspective ranging from history and politics to depictions of places and travel.

Routes and directions

The Strada Romana connects the hamlet of Marano with the centre of Isera. Since 9 July 2026, it has officially been designated as a safe pedestrian route and closed to motorised traffic, except for access by local residents and people living along the route. This information can help you take the route’s intended use into account when planning.

The Destra Adige Lagarina is a hilly route for horse riders, cyclists and walkers. It follows an ancient road. Its first stage begins in Patone and ends at Dos de l’Altar. These key points give you an idea of the route without specifying a walking or cycling time.

Marzemino, wine and local offerings

Cantina d’Isera is a cooperative winery founded in 1907. Originally, it collected grapes from Isera’s basalt hills. It produces Marzemino di Isera and has also made Trento DOC since 2004, in the Brut, Brut Riserva and Extra Brut varieties. The area’s sunny, sheltered location is associated with the cultivation of Marzemino; the winery’s wines thus reflect an important part of the local wine tradition.

Casa del Vino della Vallagarina is located in the historic Palazzo de Probizer in Isera. It serves traditional dishes paired with wines from its member producers. It also offers weekly events centred on wines from Trentino and afternoon tastings of typical products from the valley. As the event programme may change, it is best to check dates and offers in advance.

Another celebration of Marzemino is “La vigna eccellente”: each year, awards are given to the best Marzemino vineyard and the most industrious producer. If you are interested in the event, check the dates and details for the relevant edition.
