If you’re looking for hotels in Lomaso, you can plan your stay around specific interests: art and monastic history, walking trails through the Piana del Lomaso, or the region’s potato-growing tradition. Campo Lomaso brings together different layers of history: sacred art, the legacy of the Franciscan monastery and the memory of the poet Giovanni Prati. When planning, it’s worth considering these themes separately and checking event dates independently.

Art and monastic history in Campo Lomaso

The high altar in the Church of Santi Quirico e Giulitta features the oil painting “Martirio dei Santi Quirico e Giulitta,” dating from 1619–1620. The two side altars also tell part of the church’s history: in 1633, they were dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi and Saints Rocco and Sebastiano (Stenico). The artworks and their different dates give the church interior a clear historical context.

The Franciscans settled in the Lomaso area in 1664, in a newly built monastery next to the old Church of Santi Quirico e Giulitta. The surviving monastery complex includes a remarkable covered cloister, a central well and a perimeter wall with the typical Stations of the Cross shrines. Giovanni Prati is also closely connected with the monastery: the poet was born there in 1814. Villa de Lutti is also located in Campo Lomaso. Its literary salon ushered in romantic tourism.

Giovanni Prati and Parco del Poeta

Parco del Poeta extends across the entire Lomaso area, which inspired some of Giovanni Prati’s works. The Franciscan monastery in Campo Lomaso is one of the places associated with the poet. In this way, both a specific place in his biography and the wider landscape are connected with Prati.

In Parco del Poeta, guided walks led by a storyteller are offered under the name “I Viaggi dell’Emozione.” They bring together stories, theatrical performances, poems, melodies and flavours from past eras. The calendar includes regular dates, especially in summer; groups can book their preferred tour at any time of year. Check the current schedule and booking options before planning.

Walking trails through the Piana del Lomaso

The Sentiero della Patata is an easy, scenic walking trail marked with corten steel signposts. It passes through the growing areas of the Montagnina potato, a typical product of the valley. The route thus links a clearly marked trail with local cultivation, so you don’t have to wait until a particular destination to find a connection with the local product.

A walking trail crosses the Piana del Lomaso among castles, churches, and potato and grain fields. Along another walking route, you can also see the ruins of Molino dei Zeni beside the Torrente Dal. The route passes an old bridge believed to date from Roman times and known as Ponte Romano. The cautious dating is part of the bridge’s name and history; it should not be taken as confirmation of Roman origins. Before setting out on the Sentiero della Patata, it’s a good idea to check local conditions.

Potato festival and travel planning

The Festa della Patata in Campo Lomaso and Dasindo brings together a gala dinner, a multi-stop food tour, show cooking, activities and opportunities to meet local producers. If you’d like to include the festival in your travel plans, check the latest dates and booking options in advance. This keeps your plans tied to the actual event programme rather than assuming a specific date.

Campo Lomaso is connected to other places in Garda Trentino by the 211 and 201 interurban bus routes. Check current timetables and routes before planning your bus connections. When choosing where to stay, you can weigh up two different focuses: the art and monastic history of Campo Lomaso, or walking trails that bring together landscape and agricultural tradition.
