Discover Pietramurata
Accommodation in Pietramurata
Explore Pietramurata on foot, by climbing and on a mountain bike. If you’re looking for a hotel in Pietramurata, your main travel focus can help shape your plans: the Sentiero dei Molinei, the climbing crag and the Trail Center offer different ways to plan your stay.
Hiking along historic trails
The Sentiero dei Molinei follows historic connecting trails between Dro and Pietramurata. In the past, woodcutters and shepherds used these trails to reach the mountain from Dro. The route therefore combines its present-day use as a hiking trail with the trails’ former purpose.
You can hike the Sentiero dei Molinei in either direction from Pietramurata’s village square. Other access points are near Ciclamino and at Lago Bagattoli. The village square is therefore not the only point of reference for getting started: you can also take the intermediate access points into account when planning your route.
The trail passes through a black pine forest to viewpoints at the foot of Monte Brento. From there, you can see the large rock amphitheatre formed by the Marocche di Dro. The trail is suitable for everyone; views of this distinctive landscape feature add a striking natural element to the hike.
At the end of the village square, Porta Parco Pietramurata is located beside the cycle path towards Sarche. There are plenty of free parking spaces there. Porta Parco also provides information for continuing along signposted trails towards the Marocche area and Valle dei Laghi.
For the return journey from Rifugio Don Zio mountain hut, trail SAT427 heads towards Sarche and continues from there to Pietramurata. This provides a specific route via Sarche for this return journey.
Climbing at the Pietramurata crag
The climbing crag is divided into three sectors: “Muro di chitarra”, “Baule” and “Giardino di nato”. There are 44 short routes in total, secured with bolts. They have a vertical height of 25 to 30 metres, with grades ranging from 6a to 8b. This gives you specific information in advance about the sectors, the number of routes and their stated grades.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons for climbing at the crag. If climbing is the focus of your trip, the season is therefore another factor to consider when choosing your travel dates.
Mountain biking: training area and regional loop
The Pietramurata Trail Center is a mountain bike training area beside the cycle path connecting Riva del Garda and Sarche. It has four free-to-access trails with a total length of three kilometres. The options range from challenging trails for experienced bikers to easy routes with ramps and jumps for families and beginners. As information about access and trail routes may change, check it again before your ride.
Another regional cycling option is the signposted “Anello Garda Sarca” MTB loop. It covers almost 70 kilometres along the River Sarca, through olive groves, vineyards and apple orchards, and offers an overview of the Garda Trentino region. There is a shortcut near Pietramurata. So, you can choose between a compact training area with four trails and a much longer regional loop.
