Ronzone: Roses, Trails and Culture
Accommodation in Ronzone
Explore Ronzone via its walking trails, the Giardino della Rosa and local collections. When planning your visit, consider whether you are most interested in varied landscapes, roses, cycling or culture. The trails described differ in their surroundings and seasonal character; information about getting there by train and bus is also available.
Walking trails through meadows and woodland
The Passeggiata Arsen runs mainly along forest roads and well-marked paths. It loops around Monte Arsen and passes close to the lake of the same name, which can be marshy seasonally. Its description therefore offers a specific reference to both the mountain and the lake, as well as a note about the lake’s seasonal conditions.
The Passeggiata Sissipromenade runs through meadows and cultivated fields. In spring, they become areas of bloom; in winter, they lie beneath a continuous blanket of snow. The Passeggiata Pradastagn continues through a forest of spruce, silver fir, larch and heather. This gives you three distinct landscapes to choose from: the area around Monte Arsen and the lake, the fields and meadows of the Sissipromenade, and the woodland vegetation along the Pradastagn.
When comparing the trails by their surroundings, the season is also a useful consideration: both spring blooms and a winter blanket of snow are described for the Sissipromenade, while the lake along the Passeggiata Arsen can be marshy seasonally. The tree and plant species listed shape the woodland landscape of the Pradastagn.
Rose garden and cultural discoveries
The Giardino della Rosa in Ronzone is an alpine rose garden with more than 400 rose varieties. An educational trail focuses on different types and varieties of roses. Unlike the Passeggiate, the garden is centred on the diversity of roses, while the trails are distinguished mainly by their landscapes. If you are planning a visit to the garden, check the visiting dates in advance.
The Musei di Ronzone exhibitions are housed in a former primary school and include old teaching aids, everyday objects, work tools and historic kitchens. The collection thus brings together objects from different aspects of daily life. The Chiesa di Sant'Antonio da Padova also contains a painting dating from 1648: it depicts Saint Anthony, the infant Jesus and angels, and is by Tyrolean painter Johannes Pernstich. The exhibitions, with their varied objects, are therefore complemented by a single, dated work of art.
