Rumo: Mountain Trails, Frescoes and Mining History
Accommodation in Rumo
Rumo is for travelers who want to include mountain landscapes, cultural sites and trails with a variety of themes in their travel plans. The destination includes meadows and forests at the foot of the Maddalene range, as well as frescoes in the Church of Sant'Udalrico and traces of historic mining. Art, views and the history of the miners give the destination several distinctive features. If you are looking for a hotel for your trip to Rumo, these different points of interest can help you tailor your stay to your interests.
Landscape and trails
Malga Masa Murada is a mountain pasture at an altitude of 2,046 metres. It adds a specific sense of elevation to the landscape. The trails vary in what they offer, including length and gradient, connections between hamlets, design and views. Rumo therefore offers different ways for travelers to plan a stay around landscape, culture or trail themes.
The Sentiero delle statue is about 400 metres long and descends downhill. Wooden statues installed by local sculptors give it an artistic theme. The Walk in the breeze of Rumo circular trail connects several hamlets and offers panoramic views of Rumo and Monte Ozol. The Lez di Rumo runs above the hamlets and offers views across Val Lavazzè. The trails therefore differ in their design, how they connect the hamlets and the directions they look out towards: sculptures shape the Sentiero, the circular trail looks towards Rumo and Monte Ozol, and the Lez towards Val Lavazzè.
Culture and mining history
In Corte Inferiore, the Chapel of Sant'Udalrico dates back to the 15th century. The Church of Sant'Udalrico in the hamlet contains a fresco cycle from 1471, created by the brothers Giovanni and Battista Baschenis. The cycle brings a precisely dated work and two named artists into focus. Travelers interested in sacred architecture will find a cultural highlight at Sant'Udalrico.
In Marcena di Rumo, a guided family trekking tour follows paths used by miners in the 13th century to a silver galena mine. The tour is a seasonal experience for 2026; check availability for trips in later years. A guided tour of Rumo's old mines includes a tunnel in the silver mine that is about 80 metres long. The trekking tour focuses on the historic paths and its destination, while the mine tour highlights the length of the tunnel.
